Meet Gonzo

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Gonzo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Gonzo below.

Gonzo, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from being a true believer in what I’m doing. And loving it. Doubts may pop up here and there, but at the core I really just believe this is my path. It feels right to me. I spend a lot of time trying to find the next way forward, what the next step will be. I also just want it so bad that I don’t think I could ever give up. Not even a wanting to reach an end, but a wanting to continue this process for as long as possible.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

What I do is I produce songs. As a songwriter I mostly write music that accompanies an artists vocals (lyrics and performance). And in a more literal sense, I get songs made. I work with artists every step of the way to get their vision out. From a simple beat, to a demo, to a finished song, I help walk artists through each step and make sure the song isn’t just a draft forever, but gets completed and released for people to hear.
My instagram “@Gxnzx” & my tiktok “@godmangonzales” are like portfolios for my work. People can hear a wide array of different genres I work on with artists from all around the country and world. 2026 I”ll have a lot to announce. From a Patreon page, to live streams, I plan to expand my presence to all different sites.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

One big skill is time management. Especially in arts, there isn’t a lot of structure to keep you on track. You need to keep and monitor your own hours. Are things really getting done or are we wasting time? I use to clock in and clock out of music work in a little notepad I kept. Early on that helped me keep focus and see the results of how much time was actually going into the music.
Another would health a wellness. I learned early on that eating right and taking care of yourself really leads to better work getting done. Taking the extra time in a day to take care of yourself pays off. When you feel good and refreshed, some of your best work can come out of nowhere.
Lastly (this gets said a lot) just don’t give up. Giving up has a lot to do with expecting results in your own time. It took me 10+ years to get here and I learned through that process that it isn’t about chasing the result, but loving the process and never stopping.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

I work with so many different types of artists already. I could work with more people in genres that I’m less familiar with. That challenge is always fun. But most important, I want to to work with independent artists. Not people chasing label deals and big industry connections. Homegrown, small business independence is what inspires me.
