Meet Grace Disu

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Grace Disu. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Grace, thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from the way I adapt to ongoing situations. I never accept no for an answer, instead I take it as not right now and take it as an opportunity to better prepare myself for when I am ready to have it. I have learned that when you are more patient after constant rejections that the rewards in the end are much more sweeter than you imagined in the first place. My resilience comes from overcoming rejection with style and grace.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

Grace’s Kitchen initially started off as a tasty low carb alternative meal prep option. As my target audience started growing so did the demand for regular carb filled foods. So in order not to lose sales, I started offering both options based on client preference. Grace’s Kitchen currently offers plate sales at 2727 Lounge on 2727 Fondren during AFTER HOURS every Friday and Saturday, if you are looking to get a taste. Standard plates start at $25, snack size at $15, and a la carte items starting at $5.
Meal prep and catering services are always available along with one on one or group class cooking services. This year I plan to throw my first exclusive dinner party which will allow admission up to 50 guests. I plan to start working with local school districts and event planners to expand my reach within the community. I am very confident in my craft and realize there is much more work I need to accomplish this year.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey were adaptability, communication, and continuous improvement.
The power of flexibility enables me to approach problems from multiple angles and adjust when circumstances change. My advice for development is to stay curious, experiment, and learn from feedback. Engage with new ideas, cultures, and disciplines to expand your perspective. Take on challenges that push you out of your comfort zone, even if success isn’t guaranteed. Each attempt strengthens your resilience. Treat criticism as a chance to refine your approach rather than a setback.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Grace’s Kitchen Services is looking to collaborate and partner with wedding planners, servers, preps, desserts, and decor. I would like to grow my team and build a network where I can have more services available to offer through team expansion. I am also interested in servicing bridal parties and hosting rehearsal dinners. 2025 is my year of professional growth and expansion. If you are interested in joining my team, please do not hesitate to reach out to me!
