Meet Grace Galloway

We recently connected with Grace Galloway and have shared our conversation below.

Grace , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

I would have to say my work ethic comes from the women in my family who came before me. Some of the influential women in my life have been my sister, mother and grandmother. All of these women were very hard-working, very dedicated and very passionate about anything that they set their mind to my grandmother was a seamstress my entire life. She only has a sixth grade education, and she literally can create anything from scratch. I remember as a young girl watching women from her church and the community come over and give her fabric and she would turn it into a complete outfit, including accessories. My mother was a principal, and I always saw her go above and beyond, not only for her staff, but also for the students my entire life, she remained in school and received multiple degrees even while battling cancer. She was in school to get her doctorate. My big sister who has also passed away Was a go-getter. There was nothing that she could not achieve or accomplish. I remember as a young age, she had a job early on in a nursing facility and just enjoyed helping people although her life was very short-lived. She was very impactful, not only to me, but also my friends as we were young teenage women watching her thrive in college and beyond. watching these women grow up as I was a young lady definitely fueled my fire and forced me to become a very hard-working individual.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am an elite beauty consultant. I have been in the beauty industry for 15+ years during my time being a cosmetologist I have learned and grown so much and I truly enjoy what I do my brand touch by grace is about making each individual feel beautiful and excel in life. Growing up My mother was an advocate for community service so with my talents, I have started to create a scholarship reward for students who accomplish task that are assigned to them through their teachers. If they are chosen, they get to receive a free service from me. This was something that I truly wanted to implement because I wanted to give back to the Memphis local community. I am currently in school to become a trichologist which is a hair and scalp specialist with this certification I would like to be able to assist my clients who are suffering with any hair and scalp issues and rebuild their confidence. My brand is completely about making people feel comfortable in their own skin and feeling confident.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I would have to say time management financial literacy and professional development were very important in helping me in my career. Being an entrepreneur is not easy and you must have good discipline in order to be successful and thrive in any business .being able to know when to take time off for your personal care, but also knowing how and when to complete a task or job is very important when trying to run your own business. Financial literacy is super important and having success because it’s not like a typical career where you get paid weekly or biweekly. If you do not manage the money that comes in properly it is very easy for you to lose yourself and not set yourself up for financial freedom. Consistently developing your education and knowledge in your specific craft is vital in keeping up with change .new developments happen every day and you must stay afloat with all that is going on within your industry.

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?

If I only had a decade left, I would use my time to help develop young children who want to become entrepreneurs in my industry. I would love to have a school to help them learn and grow the ins and outs of being a business owner, and also developed their professional skills for what they’re going to provide with their services. The best way to get back is to reinvest in the children in the community around you so I would divulge all of my time into making sure I continuously help the younger people in my area.
