We recently connected with GraceKelly Fontanez and have shared our conversation below.

GraceKelly, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from a profound sense of love and support from my family. Their unwavering faith in my abilities, their trust in my judgment, and their constant encouragement are the source of my strength and motivation. No matter what life throws my way, I know I have their love and support to keep pushing forward. Their trust in me gives me the confidence to confront any challenge and succeed for both myself and them.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

Initially, I ventured into art as a second source of income with the intention of helping my husband’s dream of establishing his own barbershop.
In the process, I discovered my passion for art. But with a full-time job and being a mom, I couldn’t give it my all. We were able to successfully open the barbershop with much effort and hard work.
Shortly after, the pandemic struck and I was laid off from my full-time job. My family was extremely supportive and encouraged me to focus on art full time. While we faced financial difficulties, I decided to use my art as a decorative element to enhance the barbershop. I displayed my artwork and even painted murals. To my surprise, clients began purchasing my art and requesting commissioned pieces. I developed a deep love for my art and devoted myself to pouring my heart and soul into each piece. It brought me immense joy to witness the profound effect my creations had on the hearts of others. It was no longer a source of additional income, but rather my life’s purpose and passion. A piece of art displayed on your wall can serve as a constant visual reminder of love, motivation, and inspiration. I love that I am able to provide that feeling.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

My journey has not been without its challenges, but I have learned many valuable lessons along the way. During those experiences, I was able to develop my strength and acquire valuable skills that have helped me persevere. These skills include time management, confidence, and the determination to never give up.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?

My family and I made a courageous decision to embark on a new chapter in our lives by relocating to a different state. This decision has brought about a refreshing start in every aspect. I am enthusiastically exploring the art world in this new state, networking, and promoting myself. Starting over is not without its challenges, but it is a leap of faith, and I hope to positively impact more lives with my work in this new chapter.
