We recently connected with Gracey Ripa and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Gracey, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My work ethic comes largely from my dad. He had high expectations and emphasized discipline, which shaped how I approach my work today. I learned early on to push myself, pay attention to detail, and aim for a high standard. That mindset helped me build a strong foundation, but over time I’ve also had to unlearn the more rigid side of perfectionism and allow room for growth and creativity.

I’m naturally competitive and constantly inspired by other artists, which pushes me to evolve and improve. At the same time, I’ve always known I needed to create my own path. I don’t come from a place where I could rely on a safety net, so that reality instilled a sense of independence in me. I work hard because I want to build a life that reflects my vision.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a visual artist based in California focused on creating vibrant paintings and murals. My goal is to create work that not only stands out visually but transforms the feeling of a space with confident feminine energy.

What excites me most is the freedom to build a career on my own terms, traveling, creating, and connecting with people through my art. I’ve sold over 100 original paintings and continue refining my style to make my work more cohesive and impactful, while expanding into larger scale murals.

I’m building a life around creativity and independence, and I hope my work inspires others to do the same.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Three qualities that shaped my journey are consistency, refining my craft, and not comparing myself to others. Discipline keeps me consistent, while studying artists I admire helps me grow and evolve my work.

Learning not to compare myself to others growth has been just as important, it keeps me focused on my own path instead of getting distracted or discouraged. My advice is to stay consistent, study what inspires you, and focus on developing your own voice.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is someone who values bold, expressive artwork and understands the impact it can have on a space. They’re drawn to color and they trust the creative process rather than trying to control every detail.

I work best with clients who know what they want, see art as an investment, and want something unique that reflects their personality or brand. Whether it’s a collector or a business owner, the ideal collaboration is built on mutual trust, clear communication, and a shared vision.
