Meet Greg Henderson, Jr.

We were lucky to catch up with Greg Henderson, Jr. recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Greg with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
Growing up as a young man on the Eastside of Detroit, I was able to see both sides of the spectrum in regards to work ethic. People are either listless with no drive and no work ethic, or they are driven with high work ethic, my father being the latter. My father always told me to finish what you start and take pride at the task at hand. Ultimately, my father was the gold standard in regards to hard work and doing everything with excellence. He instilled in me the principles of timeliness, proper preparation and critical thinking. In other words, he encouraged me to always discover ways to transform a challenging task into a simple one.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
At Henderson Health we educate, train and certify individuals in CPR, First Aid and AED use, so that they are better equipped and prepared to save a life in the event that someone suffers from a cardiac arrest or needs urgent first aid intervention. We also help people meet their healthcare career goals through our Certified Nurse Aide Training Program that is licensed through the state of Michigan. This is a fantastic way to start a career in healthcare in as little as 3 weeks. Ultimately, we aim to educate and inform community members about health promotion and disease/illness prevention.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The three qualities that stand out as most impactful for my journey would be discipline, dedication and determination. Discipline requires a certain level of sacrifice that will allow you to stay the course. Knowing and believing that your efforts will not be in vain, and understanding that the road will not always be an easy one, certainly takes extreme dedication. Being determined will aid in ensuring that you are not easily distracted, swayed or convinced otherwise, you must keep your eyes on the end goal and consistently and constantly work towards it. My advice is to them is to make a firm decision to work hard now in order to play hard later. In other words, do what you have to do, to be able to do what you want to do.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
We are always looking to collaborate and partner with any business or organization looking to provide life saving training and certification for their staff/team. Our services are evidence-based, thorough and convenient. We can train at our Healthcare Training facility in Clinton Township or we can travel to train large groups. Our Certified Nurse Aide Training Program is a hybrid/blended learning program, and is ideal for high-school students looking to enter into the Healthcare field. We recently added a Certified Babysitter Training Course and would certainly love to partner with schools, youth groups and families of teens. For all collaboration and partnering inquiries, we can be reached via email at [email protected] or phone at 586-477-6271.
