We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Greg Hendry. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Greg below.
Greg, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Overcoming imposter syndrome required me to shift my perspective and fully embody the version of myself I aspired to be. Instead of getting caught up in doubts or focusing on what I thought I lacked, I started aligning my thoughts, actions, and decisions with the person I was working toward becoming. I asked myself, “How would someone confident and successful in this position think and act?” and then tried to approach each situation from that mindset. It wasn’t about faking it; it was about stepping into the energy of my future self and trusting that my hard work and intention would lead me to where I wanted to go. By behaving as though I already had the clarity and success, I began attracting opportunities that reinforced my belief in myself.
Imposter syndrome often arises when we step into something new, and that discomfort is a natural part of growth. Instead of resisting it, I reframed it as proof that I was stretching beyond my comfort zone. I also reminded myself that no one is born an expert—everyone learns and evolves as they go. Each small success built my confidence and quieted the doubts over time, until I no longer felt like I was “pretending” but truly owning my place.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I’m Greg Hendry, the founder of William & Fields Media, a real estate media company that has grown beyond what I could have ever envisioned when I started. Our mission is simple: to help real estate agents showcase properties in the most compelling way possible. From high-quality photos and videos to drone footage, floor plans, and virtual staging, we provide everything an agent needs to stand out in today’s competitive market.
What excites me most is how far we’ve come and where we’re headed. When I launched William & Fields Media, I worked solo, focusing on creating impactful visuals for local listings. Now, the business has grown in both scope and reputation. We’re partnering with agents on larger projects, expanding our offerings, and continually refining our services to meet the changing needs of the industry. Our Instagram Reels and short-form walkthrough videos, for example, have exploded in popularity and are now a staple in nearly every agent’s order.
This growth has inspired us to think even bigger. One of the most exciting developments has been our focus on virtual staging. The demand for this service has grown so significantly that we’re working on creating a separate division of our company dedicated solely to virtual staging for clients across the U.S. By leveraging cutting-edge technology and design expertise, this new branch will allow us to deliver customized, high-quality virtual staging solutions at scale.
This expansion reflects our commitment to helping real estate professionals elevate their listings, save money, and create impactful first impressions for buyers. We believe virtual staging has the power to transform how properties are presented and sold, and we’re excited to grow this service into a nationwide offering that empowers agents to stand out in a competitive market.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning.
1. Resilience: Building a business, especially from the ground up, comes with inevitable challenges and setbacks. Resilience has been essential in helping me push through tough times and maintain focus on my goals. For those just starting out, my advice is to build mental toughness by reframing failures as opportunities to learn. Celebrate small wins along the way, and remind yourself that every successful person has faced adversity.
2. Adaptability: The ability to pivot and respond to unexpected changes has been invaluable. Whether it was learning new skills to meet client demands or adjusting services to stay competitive, adaptability has allowed me to turn obstacles into growth opportunities. For beginners, embrace change and be open to stepping outside your comfort zone. Look at challenges as a chance to innovate and expand your skillset.
3. Continuous Learning: In a rapidly evolving industry, staying informed and sharpening my expertise has been crucial. Whether it’s mastering new tools, understanding market trends, or improving my leadership skills, I’ve found that investing in knowledge pays off exponentially. My advice to those starting out is to always remain curious. Take courses, read books, or seek mentorship in areas you’re passionate about or need to improve in. Never stop learning, because growth is a lifelong process.
Ultimately, these qualities not only shaped my journey but also built a strong foundation for sustainable success. For those early in their journey, focus on cultivating these traits intentionally. Remember, every step forward is progress, and the key is to stay committed to the process even when the outcome feels uncertain.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
The most influential person in my journey has undoubtedly been my wife. From the very beginning, she believed in my vision, even when the path ahead was uncertain. Her unwavering support and encouragement gave me the confidence to take the leap and start my own business. She has been my sounding board, my biggest supporter, and my partner through every challenge and milestone. Without her belief in me, I’m not sure I would have had the courage to bet on myself.
In addition to her support, I’ve been fortunate to have two incredible mentors from my past work experience who continue to play a significant role in my growth. These individuals were not just colleagues—they were leaders who saw potential in me and helped me develop the skills and mindset I needed to thrive. Today, they meet with me monthly to check on my progress, offer guidance, and help me map out the future of my business. Their insight, experience, and genuine interest in my success have been invaluable.
Having a support system that combines personal encouragement and professional mentorship has made all the difference. These relationships remind me that success is rarely a solo journey; it’s built on the foundation of people who believe in you and challenge you to be your best.
