We recently connected with Greg Westbrook Ii and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Greg with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I would say I received my work ethic from the cards I was dealt with in life. In no way am I ungrateful, I am very fortunate and blessed with the life I have. Yet, through my life I value the lessons I was taught because it showed me how to not take ‘no’ for an answer. And to give every opportunity the best I have to offer.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
The name of my brand is Underrated Stylz. It is a motivational clothing brand to encourage others. The meaning of my brand comes from the uniqueness of how it is spelled.
To be unique through the ‘stylz’ you embrace, pushing a change that is influential small or big. The change of not limiting nor doubting self, but getting out of the way of self. Getting out of your head and believing the capabilities that you have had all along. You are competing with nobody but yourself, so know anything is possible. As long as you believe, put your best foot forward, stay consistent, and embrace your ‘stylz’ & be the change.
Most exciting thing about my brand is the challenges I have been faced, but also the birth of the brand. Underrated Stylz comes from my college experience as an athlete and how often I would stay in my own head doubting my own capabilities. For me it felt like it was too late, but it wasn’t until the off seasons, where I realized that I was in the way of my own development and potential.
And from this, I don’t want anyone else to go through what it was I faced in college. Therefore, I wanted to make a change a change that would soon change the world, by encouraging as many people as I could. Not just through my brand but the message my brand carries.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Most impactful things that I’ve learned through my journey is to keep GOD first, being grateful regardless of what the world throws at you, and being optimistic. But most importantly being joyful, I always have a positive outlook on life and a reason to smile. This is by far the greatest cheat code to life I have ever learned. To find something to be grateful for and to stay joyful, and in that life seems to be a little bit easier than before.
Best advice I can offer is to walk this thing called life chin up chest out. Despite the cards you might be dealt in life, continue to stay diligent and show up. Because at any given moment your life can change and begin to work in your favor. And your future self will thank you.
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
The number one obstacle I am currently navigating through is getting my brand more awareness. Because I know there are more individuals in the world that need the encouragement to get of their own head and believe in themselves, despite what others think and what goes on around them.
Bringing awareness of the message behind the brand is life changing, and something that I am passionate about that would do great things.
To combat this current obstacle, I am spending more time speaking the message of the brand and being transparent on all platforms that Underrated Stylz is currently present on. I am doing this in hope that I change someone’s life, whether it be one individual or one million.
