Meet Gregory Dylan

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gregory Dylan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Gregory, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

I would have to say that my work ethic comes from my parents. I was taught early on that working towards goals was vital and satisfying. I was also urged to find a career that I enjoyed and was passionate about and that has been a huge help. I love what I do, so even though it can be stressful like any job, I truly enjoy the process and find great satisfaction in it all.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’m an esthetician and beauty expert with over 25 years of experience. Before opening my skincare studio in West Hollywood in 2013, I traveled both domestically and internationally educating and promoting on behalf of some stellar beauty brands. In 2019 I launched my first product, Skin Slept In, and Gregory Dylan Skincare was born! Since then I have added eight more fantastic products to my lineup to address multiple skincare concerns like anti-aging, brightening and breakouts. Additionally, I have recently expanded to my second location in iconic downtown Palm Springs!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

In addition to my knowledge about my industry and skincare, the three qualities that were most impactful on my journey were creativity, tenacity and passion.

As a small business, you don’t always have the same resources and funds as a larger one, so you must get very creative with your marketing and offerings to stand out without breaking the bank. It’s all about thinking outside of the box and being solution-based when challenges arise. Additionally, you must be tenacious because you will come up against so much that will make you want to throw in the towel. You simply have to commit to your plan and remind yourself that giving up is not an option. It’s not something that is always easy to do, but you get better at it as you go along. So celebrate the simple wins and recognize that every little step counts on your way to success! Lastly, passion is key because it’s what keeps you going. Remembering why you started this journey and putting so much of yourself into your work is what will keep it authentic and also help drive you along. Think of your passion as your fuel.

Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?

My ideal client is anyone who is passionate about skincare or has the desire to learn. This could be someone who is very well-read and has a good understanding of products and professional techniques or it could be someone who is dealing with some issues on their skin and doesn’t quite know where to start. The one thing that they will both have in common is commitment. A client who understands that to create real change in the skin and get amazing results takes time and consistency is a client who will certainly reap the benefits of their relationship with their esthetician.
