Meet Gregory McKinney

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Gregory McKinney. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Gregory, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding my purpose was a journey of self-discovery intertwined with a deep exploration of spirituality and emotional growth. It wasn’t a single epiphany but rather a gradual unfolding of understanding and realization.

My path began with personal struggles, moments of darkness that ultimately led me to seek solace in spirituality and introspection. Growing up wasn’t easy; my father was an abusive alcoholic, so that caused a lot of turmoil in our home. My mother was emotionally cold and distant. I always felt like a burden to my parents. These things combined lead me to question a lot of things around my importance and what value do I bring. So I began a journey to find out what made me special and that journey started with God.

Through this journey, I discovered a profound connection between my own experiences and the universal struggles faced by others. It became evident that my purpose lay in helping others navigate their own spiritual and emotional journeys.

Each person’s path is unique, but I found that by sharing my own experiences and insights, I could offer guidance and support to those facing similar challenges. It’s a deeply fulfilling journey, one that continuously evolves as I learn and grow alongside those I have the privilege to assist.

Ultimately, finding my purpose wasn’t about searching for external validation or societal expectations. Instead, it was about listening to the whispers of my soul, following the threads of passion and empathy that led me to a path of service and healing. My journey is what made me equiped to be the life coach I am today.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My passion is for people and helping individuals find their greatness. I am a minister and life coach with over ten years of experience counseling couples, individuals, and families. I have counseled numerous couples suffering from broken relationships and/or relationships on the verge of divorce. I have a proven track record of effective counsel for individuals battling depression, and emotionally abusive relationships and provided guidance for the unmotivated and stuck. I have a wide range of clients from all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds.

My goal is to help individuals, couples, and families find meaning and strategic solutions in whatever they are struggling with. Whether it be depression, broken relationships, hurtful communication, defining their purpose, or self-awareness, I know what it feels like to hit rock bottom. I’ve been there. I have literally lost it all and had to start over from scratch. It’s not easy, but it is possible. Step by step, one day at a time, I am here to help

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my journey, three qualities stand out as particularly impactful: empathy, resilience, and continuous learning. Developing a deep sense of empathy allowed me to connect with others on a profound level. To cultivate empathy, I recommend actively listening to others without judgment, practicing perspective-taking, and engaging in meaningful conversations that broaden your understanding of different life experiences. Resilience comes by not gvining up. Overcoming obstacles and setbacks is inevitable on any journey, especially one focused on personal growth and helping others. I’m always trying to learn more. The field of personal development and coaching is ever-evolving, requiring a commitment to lifelong learning and growth. Staying informed about the latest research, techniques, and methodologies allowed me to refine my approach and better serve my clients.

For those early in their journey, I encourage you to embrace curiosity and openness to new experiences. Take risks, step outside your comfort zone, and never underestimate the power of perseverance. Surround yourself with a supportive community of like-minded individuals who uplift and inspire you. Remember, the journey of personal growth is not a destination but a continuous process of self-discovery and transformation. Trust in your abilities, stay committed to your goals, and above all, believe in the profound impact you can make in the lives of others.
