We recently connected with Gretchen Pleshaw and have shared our conversation below.
Gretchen, we are so deeply grateful to you for opening up about your journey with mental health in the hopes that it can help someone who might be going through something similar. Can you talk to us about your mental health journey and how you overcame or persisted despite any issues? For readers, please note this is not medical advice, we are not doctors, you should always consult professionals for advice and that this is merely one person sharing their story and experience.
I live with Anxiety every single day of my life. I have come to realize that so many others deal with it daily as well. I have found the more that I open up and share my story of anxiety with others the more I don’t feel so alone. It is a continuous battle to search for and ultimately find the light and beauty in each and every day however I am realizing more and more that my anxiety is what makes me such an empathetic and caring person.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
My name is Gretchen Pleshaw and I live in the mountains of Vail Colorado. I am a radio and television host. I am a radio host on a Pop radio station called The LIFT Fm (KKCH, KIDN and KIFT). I try to spread a lot of happiness and joy on the radio daily. Keeping an upbeat attitude and spreading joy is very important to me and I try to do this daily with my career. I really enjoy talking about the top 40s Pop songs and fun pop culture facts as well as speaking . my truth and raising awareness on important issues. I also am a television host on a segment called “The Glitz and Glam with Gretchen” on TV8. I cover all things glamorous and glitzy here in the mountain town of Vail. The main theme of the TV show is self-care and self love from the inside out. I really enjoy interviewing all different types of people that make this world a better place!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
I truly think keeping a positive attitude, speaking your truth and going after the life you really want and making it a reality is the recipe for getting your dream career. You have to put in a lot of work!
Thanks so much for sharing all these insights with us today. Before we go, is there a book that’s played in important role in your development?
The Alchemist! This is my all time favorite book. I don’t want to ruin the book for those who have yet to read it but it’s truly about how life is a beautiful journey full of twists and turns and signs that lead you to straight where you need to be!
