Meet Guildia Lopez

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Guildia Lopez. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Guildia , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

My resilience comes from my ancestors and the sacrifices they’ve made. As an immigrant child from Guatemala with Garifuna roots, I carry the strength of those who came before me. Their stories of perseverance, survival, and hope inspire me every day. Being the first in my family to go to college has shown me that breaking barriers is not just a personal achievement- it is honoring their dreams and paving the way for future generations. My resilience is grounded in their legacy and fueled by a deep sense of purpose to make their sacrifices worthwhile.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a visionary entrepreneur, marketer, and founder of Brothers and Briefcases. Our organization is more than just a brand; is a movement dedicated to empowering Black and Brown men to thrive in their professional, personal, and social lives. By fostering community, collaboration, and authentic growth, we aim to close opportunity gaps and redefine what leadership and success truly mean.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey, three key qualities stand out as having made the biggest impact: resilience, emotional intelligence, and strategic thinking.

1. Resilience: Building Brothers and Briefcases came with closed doors and challenges, but resilience kept me going. Embrace setbacks, pivot when needed, and keep your “why” at the forefront, a clear purpose makes perseverance possible.
2. Emotional Intelligence: Understanding others, your team, audience, or partners, is invaluable. It builds trust, resolves conflicts, and inspires. Start with active listening: truly hear others before responding. Over time, your connections will deepen, and your communication will thrive.
3. Strategic Thinking: Vision matters, but execution is key. Set measurable goals, break them into steps, track progress, and adapt as needed to stay aligned with the big picture.
One last piece of advice: surround yourself with people who push you to grow. Whether it’s mentors, peers, or your team, the right support system can make all the difference. Be intentional about learning from
those around you, and don’t hesitate to share your lessons along the way.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

We are always looking for partners and collaborators who share our vision of empowering Black and Brown men and creating opportunities for growth and leadership. We are particularly interested in connecting with:
• Professionals and thoughtful leaders who can share their expertise through speaking engagements, workshops, and mentorship programs.
• Organizations and brands that align with our mission and are looking to collaborate on events, initiatives, or sponsorship opportunities.
• Community leaders and advocates who want to work together to expand our impact in our community.
If you are passionate about fostering professional excellence, building meaningful networks, and breaking barriers, we’d love to hear from you! You can reach out to us directly through our website www.brothersandbriefcases.com or connect with us on social media @brothersandbriefcases.
