We recently connected with Guillermo Marigliano and have shared our conversation below.
Guillermo, so glad you were able to set aside some time for us today. We’ve always admired not just your journey and success, but also the seemingly high levels of self-discipline that you seem to have mastered and so maybe we can start by chatting about how you developed it or where it comes from?
My self-discipline comes from music itself. From an early age in Argentina, I learned that music requires consistency, presence, and honesty. But for me, it’s never been about forcing myself to practice — it’s about acting on my passion. When you act on your passion, to others it might look like self-discipline, but really it’s love in action.
Over time I’ve seen that discipline is what transforms inspiration into reality — it’s how ideas become songs and dreams turn into albums or concerts. At the core of it, my motivation comes from gratitude. Being able to play, teach, and share music every day feels like a gift, and the best way to honor that is by showing up fully.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a guitarist, composer, and educator based in Los Angeles, originally from Argentina. My music blends Latin American rhythms with jazz harmony and improvisation, all expressed through the voice of the Spanish guitar. What excites me most is the emotional and spiritual connection that music creates — that moment when sound opens space for reflection, inspiration, and unity.
Over the years, I’ve released eight original albums, collaborated with incredible musicians, and performed in festivals across the Americas and Europe. My recent work, Guitar Multiverse, explores the many dimensions of the guitar through a fusion of Latin jazz and contemporary sounds.
Alongside performing, I teach guitar to students of all ages, sharing a simple and effective method that helps them improvise and express themselves freely through music. Teaching is an extension of my art — a way to pass on the same passion and discovery that music gave me.
Right now, I’m performing my 21st Century Latin Guitar Concert series and preparing to release a new album called “Latin Soul”, a solo Spanish guitar album.
My goal is always to connect — heart to heart — through the universal language of music.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Discovering the language of jazz and blues had the most profound impact on my life. I discovered a musical style that, in my opinion, and due to the advanced growth of improvisation within it, is the only one in the world that allows a musician to express the real freedom of the human soul.
As an educator, I only give one piece of advice to my younger students who are just starting out on the path of music and art and want to be musicians in the future: always do what truly comes from your heart, regardless of what is going on socially in your environment, and let go of all future expectations.
The universe will show you the synchronicities in your life to continue acting on your highest dreams and passion.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
One of the biggest challenges today for many musicians — myself included — is the pressure to fit into the social media paradigm. There’s this idea that if you’re not a “social media artist” with a massive online presence and thousands of likes, you’re somehow less worthy or less successful. But that’s simply not true.
Music has always been about human connection, not algorithms. Real artistry takes time, reflection, and authenticity — things that don’t always fit into a 15-second video. Of course, I value sharing my work online and staying connected with my audience, but I try to do it in a way that feels genuine and aligned with who I am.
To overcome this challenge, I focus on creating meaningful music and real experiences — live performances, teaching, and one-on-one connections with listeners and students. I believe that building true relationships through music has a deeper and longer-lasting impact than any number of followers could ever measure.
