Guslene , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
Developing confidence and self-esteem has been a journey that I’ve embraced in different parts of my life. Drawing from my background in psychology, I have come to understand self-awareness, and who I am is really important for building self-esteem.

Having pursued a career as a cosmetologist and trichologist, I’ve always held onto the principle of perpetual self-improvement. This commitment has driven me to challenge myself each day, pushing my boundaries to achieve incremental growth. By consistently seeking opportunities to enhance my skills and knowledge, I’ve not only improved my professional abilities but also bolstered my personal sense of accomplishment.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Greetings, everyone! Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Guslene Bubak, and I am an exceptional individual who has dedicated herself to unraveling the mysteries of scalp health and revolutionizing the world of hair care.

My journey began with a fervent passion for understanding the intricacies of scalp disorders. Driven by an insatiable desire, I embarked on a transformative educational path and specializing in the fascinating field of Trichology. My mission was clear: to delve to the very root of the issue. It’s worth noting that scalp treatment had long been overshadowed in the vast tapestry of the hair industry. But I, with my unwavering commitment, was about to change that narrative.

In the landscape of hair care, the scalp had remained a hidden realm until recently. I recognized this gap and became a torchbearer for change. I sought to unravel the mysteries of the scalp, recognizing its role as a pivotal incubator for hair fibers and a crucial contributor to hair growth – knowledge that was sorely lacking until my journey began.

Upon completing my rigorous studies, my dedication led me to a prestigious certification by the AMCA Certification Board. My research illuminated a previously uncharted path, focusing on how the scalp’s condition – whether in a state of health or neglect – could profoundly influence the growth and retention of hair. In my quest for understanding, I also explored the diverse landscape of hair care practices and their effectiveness across different ethnic groups, exemplifying my dedication to inclusivity and holistic hair care.

The year 2019 marked a watershed moment in my journey. My ingenuity gave birth to the RejuvaScalp system – a groundbreaking solution aimed at helping individuals of all ages and genders combat an array of scalp issues, from seborrheic dermatitis to dandruff and more. And the innovation didn’t stop there. In 2021, I introduced the game-changing RejuvaScalp Jet tool, a pivotal component of salon scalp treatments that has since become indispensable.

My vision has expanded beyond solutions to encompass an entire realm of services. I now offer scalp and Japanese Head Spa services, extending my wealth of knowledge through scalp treatment education, and equipping professionals with the tools they need to deliver exceptional scalp care.

At the core of my philosophy lies a simple yet profound belief: the journey to healthy hair begins with a nourished, thriving scalp. My dedication, innovation, and commitment to holistic care have not only transformed the industry but also elevated the lives of those who have had the privilege of experiencing my expertise.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

As a cosmetologist and trichologist running a business, the three most crucial skills and qualities for success in today’s competitive environment are:

Expertise in Hair and Scalp Health: In our field, an in-depth understanding of hair and scalp health is paramount. Continuously educate yourself on the latest research and treatments for various hair and scalp conditions. Clients seek our expertise to address their concerns, so being a trusted authority is essential.

Empathetic Client Care: Building strong client relationships based on trust and empathy is key. Listen actively to clients’ needs and concerns, and provide personalized solutions. Empathetic care not only fosters client loyalty but also generates positive word-of-mouth referrals.

Business Savvy: Operating a successful cosmetology and trichology business requires more than technical skills. Develop business acumen to manage finances, market your services effectively, and stay competitive. Understanding industry trends and adapting to changes is vital for long-term success.

By focusing on these three skills and qualities, you can navigate the competitive landscape while providing top-notch care to your clients.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
as a cosmetologist and trichologist managing moments of overwhelming emotion is crucial for maintaining productivity and well-being. To address these feelings, I employ several effective strategies. Firstly, I break down my tasks into smaller, more manageable chunks. This approach allows me to tackle one thing at a time, preventing the sense of being swamped by a multitude of responsibilities. Additionally, I practice time-blocking, allocating specific time slots for different tasks and setting clear boundaries between work and personal time. This technique aids in maintaining focus and preventing burnout.

Navigating the intricate landscape of running my own business demands a diverse skill set. From overseeing day-to-day operations and steering personnel management to curating a welcoming environment, the scope of responsibilities is wide-ranging. To excel in this role, I’ve found that effective communication is key. Regular check-ins with my team and fostering an open dialogue not only streamline operations but also cultivate a supportive atmosphere.

Recognizing the importance of maintaining a healthy work-life balance, I make my day off an unwavering priority. This commitment allows me to recharge and approach my work with renewed energy. Incorporating self-care activities is another fundamental aspect of my routine. Whether it’s indulging in a relaxing spa day, exploring new cultural experiences through theater outings, or enjoying leisurely brunches, these moments of self-nurturing contribute significantly to my overall well-being.

In conclusion, managing overwhelming feelings requires a combination of organizational strategies, effective communication, and dedicated self-care. By implementing these approaches, I’ve been able to navigate the intricate responsibilities of entrepreneurship while prioritizing my own health and happiness.
