We recently connected with Gustavo Montero and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Gustavo, thanks for sitting with us today to chat about topics that are relevant to so many. One of those topics is communication skills, because we live in an age where our ability to communicate effectively can be like a superpower. Can you share how you developed your ability to communicate well?
I come from a family of teachers. My mother and father are teachers and they were always aware of my academic growth and my ways of communicating. I studied social sciences and through reading I developed an ease of communication and music has also helped me to express myself more comfortably. Today I am part of a podcast that we call “The Bohemia podcast & show” and there I interview with my other colleague Nayi Escalona different personalities from the world of arts and entertainment. I owe a lot to the training I have had since I was very young, which today has allowed me to achieve my goals.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I arrived in the United States in 2015 and since then I have focused on dedicating time to music, it was there that I decided to create content on my networks, be part of some local bands and continue my musical training. 5 years ago I started a project with an incredible band that today is recognized by many in the state and that day by day is consecrated as one of the most important Latin music bands in Utah, it is called Senxao. We also have a podcast that we broadcast every Sunday on our utah channel “The bohemia podcast & show” where we interview people linked to art and creative processes, we talk about things of interest to our community and we serve as a platform for the exhibition of new talents . We also hold a monthly concert as part of the Bohemia where local artists will offer their art and we take care of providing the entire platform so that they can make themselves known.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Without a doubt, family education has been essential for the growth of each one of the projects that I have considered, the love for what I do and the perseverance have been definitive for my evolution.
What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
When I feel overwhelmed I try to take a break and rethink the next step and create efficient alternatives to stay on target. Feeling like this is normal and what we must do is seek strength within the difficulty
