Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Haidar with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I know for a fact I received my work ethic from my father growing up. I watched him work day in and day out and just hoped and prayed that I would be half the man he was growing up. He 100% influenced the type of person I am today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
So while I graduated Florida International University as a Civil Engineer with a discipline in structures, I went on to become a professional brewer both in beer & sake and that is what I currently do (alongside freelance engineering) with Shōjō Beer Co.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
The three qualities, skill or areas of knowledge that have been impactful in my journey were 1) my hardheadedness. Once I have my mind set on something, I don’t stop, 2) my critical thinking and analysis. I’ve taken what I’ve learned in school and in life and break it down and look at any problem at hand in many different viewpoints until I’ve come up with an answer. 3) My drive and determination to learn from from all those around me. Advice I would give to those early in their journey is ASK FOR HELP! There are people who have been where you are currently and they have a wealth of knowledge that can help make your journey easier because they went through the hardships already by themselves.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My partner in crime, Marilyn. She is always there to offer advice and give me a viewpoint I might not have considered because I was being TOO hardheaded. She’s always there when I need her (or don’t) and she is the piece of the puzzle I need that completes my life.
