Meet Hailey Fisher

We recently connected with Hailey Fisher and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Hailey, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
When I find myself being the only one in the room with my business type I get excited! I find myself realizing that the competition is minimal and I can achieve my highest potential by showing others what I have to offer is different and unique from those around us. My business can add just the right touch of entertainment to any event, big or small!

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
For those who have not heard of The EventTender yet, we do event and wedding bartending. As of right now, I provide bartending service, extra bartenders (if needed), bar and grocery list planning, my own bar tools, as well as a laminated bar menu that I bring with me the day of the event. I decided to start my business after I graduated Austin Peay State University with my degree in business and psychology (2022). I also have years of experience working as a bartender in the restaurant industry. Once I had my daughter and began to think about going back to work, all I could think about was how much I missed what I love doing… bartending!

I knew with my education and background, the goal of starting this business was very realistic for me. I just had to believe in myself and press the green light to make it happen!

The first year of being in business as The EventTender has been much more successful than I had expected. Now that I am in my second year, I feel incredibly confident and excited for what’s to come!

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back to the beginning of my journey of creating my business, I’d say 3 things that were most impactful on me would be my drive and dream to run a business, my dedication to sticking to what I say I’m going to do, and the support that I receive and have received from everyone around me! Key advice that I’ve been told when creating a business is not to get discouraged by all the big fancy things that other businesses have, for they tend to go in debt to look like they aren’t. Stay humbled, it keeps you focused.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
The most impactful thing that I have gotten from what my parents did for me is they have always taught me to be true to myself and true to others. Positivity attracts positivity.
