Meet Hailey Roe

We recently connected with Hailey Roe and have shared our conversation below.

Hailey, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found my purpose when I discovered how much I loved taking photos. I would take way too many photos every time I would travel somewhere. I have been doing it all my life, not knowing photography would be something I wanted to pursue. I only knew that I wanted to pursue photography once I got older. I started to learn more about photography in high school. I took a few photography classes, one about digital photography and the other about film photography. After taking those classes and learning more about photography on my own time, I knew it was something I wanted to do. Last summer, I decided to focus more on my photography and see what I could do with it. I have always loved sharing my creativity and content with the world. Sharing my photography has been something I’ve been passionate about. I have always loved the process of taking photos and editing them. You get to put your creative twist on it and make it your own. You are in control of the images you take. You get to choose what kind of photo you want to capture. You get to express your creativity. That’s what I love about photography.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My name is Hailey Roe. I am 20 years old, and I am from Wisconsin. I am a photographer and a digital content creator. I have been creating digital content since I was about 13 years old, if not younger. I mainly do YouTube and photography. I learned how to video edit, make my thumbnails, and do all of the work on my own, and I first started with just my iPhone and the video editing software iMovie. Once I started making videos, I couldn’t stop because I enjoyed it. It was something I was passionate about. I have two YouTube channels: Furbyboom28, which is a gaming channel of mainly Minecraft videos, and TheHailey_Vlogs, which is my vlogging channel where I post videos about my daily life and travel journeys and that’s my current channel where I still post videos. I have been doing photography as a small hobby for most of my life. I never thought it would become something I would be interested in. I started taking it more seriously last summer after being told by multiple people that I should post my photography and put it out there for the world to see. I decided to give it a go. I mainly do photography of animals, nature, and astrophotography. I take most of my photos on my iPhone 14 Pro. I also have a Cannon Rebel T7 that I am learning to use. I took a few photography classes in high school, one about film photography and one about digital photography. I’ve learned how to use Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom. I continue to learn more every time I take a photo. I mainly focus on my photography, and I do YouTube every once in a while. What is so special about what I do is that I can control what I capture on camera. I get to express my creativity, and I get to be in control of what I create and what I do with it. Sharing it all with the whole world is what I love about what I do. I love inspiring people and getting to post content that I enjoy that others will also enjoy. I love capturing photos and videos of our beautiful planet whenever possible. I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon. I plan to sell some of my pictures and other things later on.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most Impactful skills in my journey were Patience, computer skills, and creativity. When doing photography, digital content creation, or anything in any field, you must learn to be patient because it can take a while to get to where you want to be. Computer skills are good to know because these days, in most jobs, you will be in front of a computer every once in a while, and with my video editing and photo editing, I have to know how to use multiple editing software, which can take a long time to learn. I already have some computer skills because I have always loved technology. I have been into tech ever since I was a kid. When working with photos and videos, you must think outside the box and find ways to express your creativity. You can express your creativity in multiple ways; sometimes, it will just come to you. With photo and video creation, you have many opportunities to express your creativity, whether behind or in front of the camera or doing all of the editing. My advice for others just starting their journey would be to be patient and never give up. You may struggle at times and want to give up, but doing what you enjoy most and dreaming about where you want to be in life should be enough motivation to help you get there. Continue to practice and learn new things, and be patient. That will help you improve and learn new skills and new knowledge.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The number one challenge I am currently facing is self-doubt. I am constantly doubting myself and wondering if I can do this or if I should stop. I am overcoming this challenge by stepping outside my comfort zone whenever possible. I doubt myself because I don’t step outside my comfort zone enough. I am afraid of being judged. So, I continue to work on my photography and digital content creation and try new things even if they scare me because we only have one life on this earth, and we should live it doing things that might scare us and that we might enjoy. We should always try new things; even if we are unsure, we will enjoy them. You will know if you can do something once you try it, and if you don’t like it, that is understandable. I always tell myself that I can do this and will succeed if I do the work, never give up, and be patient.
