We recently connected with Hala Maroc and have shared our conversation below.
Hala, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Honestly, I didn’t *find* my purpose; it revealed itself the more I stayed true to who I am. That’s why my motto is “ finding success through finding yourself “ .
Growing up Afro Arab, there weren’t many examples of women like me owning their voice publicly, let alone thriving in creative or leadership spaces. For a long time, I just knew I wanted to create space, space to be myself, and space for others to feel seen, heard, and safe doing the same.
Everything I’ve built from the BADASS Bootcamp to the Build A Dream Incubator is an extension of that mission. I realized my purpose is to be a bridge: between wellness and culture, between creativity and community, between survival and *thrival*. Whether I’m hosting a radio show, curating a retreat, or supporting youth through SEL programs, I’m doing it all with intention, making sure people feel empowered to show up as their whole selves.
My purpose found *me* when I stopped shrinking and started showing up as the woman I needed when I was younger.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m a multimedia personality, community builder, and the founder of BADASS BOOTCAMP—a wellness-meets-creativity movement rooted in the belief that healing and hustle can coexist. Everything I do is about helping people, especially women and youth of color, feel seen, heard, and supported as they tap into their passion and purpose.
What’s most exciting to me is how dynamic the work is. One day I’m hosting a radio show spotlighting underrepresented voices in hip hop and R&B, the next I’m curating a retreat in Morocco or building out our new coworking and wellness space on Staten Island—the Build A Dream Incubator. It’s a space designed for dreamers and doers to come together and create impact, and I’m proud to say we are expanding to another location that we will be announcing soon!
I want folks to know that everything I create is intentional. Whether it’s through mentorship, media, or movement, I’m here to remind people that they’re not just surviving—they’re building something powerful. This isn’t just about business—it’s about belonging.
Right now, we’re gearing up for our 3rd annual Recharge Retreat in August. I’m also working on launching our Care Cafe at Build A Dream Incubator.
This is just the beginning, and I’m grateful to be doing purpose-driven work that reflects where I’ve been—and where we’re all going.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I’d say the three most impactful things that shaped my journey were self-awareness, storytelling, and the ability to build community.
Self-awareness was the game-changer. As an Afro Arab woman navigating industries where I didn’t always see myself reflected, I had to get clear on who I am, what I value, and what I’m not willing to compromise. That grounded me in purpose even when things got messy.
Storytelling became my superpower. Whether through radio, events, or social content, I learned how to use my voice—and help others use theirs—to shift culture and spark connection. It’s not just about talking, it’s about being intentional with how you show up and share your truth.
And then there’s community building—the heart of everything I do. From BADASS BOOTCAMP to the Build A Dream Incubator, I’ve created spaces where people feel seen, celebrated, and supported. That only happens when you lead with authenticity and show up consistently.
My advice for anyone just starting out? Start with you. Know your why, stay curious, and don’t rush the process. Sharpen your voice by telling your story out loud, even if you’re the only one listening at first. And remember, your people are out there—so build, collaborate, and don’t be afraid to be the first to create what you wish existed.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is someone who’s purpose-driven, open to growth, and ready to bet on themselves. Whether they’re an artist, entrepreneur, educator, or community leader, I work best with people who are passionate about what they do but need support turning their vision into something tangible, sustainable, and impactful.
