Meet Hale Tea Co

We recently connected with Megan Miller and have shared our conversation below.

Megan, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I feel like finding your purpose is one of life’s biggest challenges. Once you find it though, things seem to come together in their own way. I found that I don’t just have one purpose but many purposes. I’m a mother, a partner, a volunteer, a business owner and an individual. Each one of these things has a different purpose and different challenges but each one makes me who I am.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I feel extremely lucky to call myself a small business owner where I get to combine a lot of my passions. I went to Savannah College of Art and Design with a degree in photography and advertising but struggled turning what I loved doing into a job. I worked in corporate for eight years where I learned a lot but also learned a lot about what I didn’t enjoy doing. When the opportunity to own Hale Tea Company came about is when my educational background and passions got to mix. I get to utilize all my skills but it’s on my own terms. Don’t get me wrong it is a lot of hard work – but I am a firm believer that you get out of the business what you put into it.

I am excited to announce a re-re brand of Hale Tea Company! I’m calling it a re-re brand because it’s good to change with change and we are always growing. We are simplifying our offerings but putting more focus on the attention to detail and sustainability of the products.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My biggest advice is to be open minded. When I graduated college I struggled finding a career in what I went to school for. I thought I needed to work for a big ad agency or become a famous photographer to be successful but when I opened my mind to other opportunities everything changed. Some people think that a tea or small business is not creative or fulfilling – I’m here to change that perspective. Everyday I get to use the skills I love, from design concepts, photography shoots to social media and marketing, I am utilizing my degree in ways I never would have imagined. You don’t have to be at the biggest agency to be successful – success is what you make it!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I love a good collaboration! It is such a great way to highlight things you wouldn’t think go together and showcase products in a different light. For example, tea in beer is an amazing combination. It brings a flavor to the brewing process without needing extra ingredients. Tea also has huge health benefits – did you know it is the base for Kombucha?

I love exploring the different uses of tea and showcasing the versatility it has. It works great in beauty products and tastes great in baked goods – tea is really such a unique product. We are always open to partnerships and collaborations. When we all work together beautiful things happen!
