Meet Haley Jordan

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Haley Jordan. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Haley, thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us today. We’re excited to dive into your story and your work, but first let’s start with a broader topic that might be stopping many of our readers from pursuing their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. How have you managed to persist despite haters and nay-sayers that inevitably follow folks who are doing something unique, special or off the beaten path?
I know what I am doing is bigger than a mean comment, or rude messages. I started out wanting to just show family & friends how delicious plantbased food can be, then it grew when I saw how much misinformation was still out there. So I want show as many people as possible, that you can have the food you love, and it can be plantbased.

I know you can’t please everyone, so you might as well do what you love and feel passionate about.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I wanted to start Romaine calm mamma as just a hobby thing before, but then I saw how many people newly plantbased/vegan, that were struggling to find simple meals, or were missing comfort foods that they grew up with.

So I switched gears with my accounts,
and started breaking down recipes, and trying to show others you can keep the foods you love, just minus the animals.

I also saw how sometimes as vegans we can get stuck on all the bad out there in the world, so we needed more videos that vegans/plantbased friends could relate to, and get a little laugh out of sometimes.

What’s to come in the future?
New video series, new holiday treats,
and tweaking some fan favorites!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Cooking is the first one, I’ve always loved watching Cooking shows, and in my teens I worked at a restaurant, (mainly as a dishwasher) but sometimes helping with sides and desserts.

Second I would say patience, when you first go vegan/plantbased or vegetarian. There is new ingredients you are working with, and trying new things with old recipes. So it won’t always turn out first try.

Third I would say is, learning to keep your own peace. This world is far from a Plantbased world still, so you have to find your own peace to focus on sometimes.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
First has been my spouse, anytime I’m dealing with imposter syndrome, he is always there cheering me on. He has helped with props, been in videos with me, and is always my number one fan.

Second is the vegan community, from those who were recipe creating before us, like Sweet simple vegan, sharing their tips.
To those I talk with almost everyday online, sharing their experiences.
