We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hamlet Ghukasyan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hamlet, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic was shaped by my background and early experiences in Armenia, where I was born and raised. I came to the United States at 14 and completed high school in Scarborough, Maine, with honors. However, it was in Armenia that I truly developed my drive and learned the importance of hard work and resourcefulness. Even from a young age, I was always determined to find ways to earn a dollar and turn it into more.
One of my earliest entrepreneurial ventures was when I was 12. My parents would take me to visit relatives in a village for a week or two during summer breaks, where I stayed with my uncle, who ran a small corner stand selling watermelons. I quickly convinced him to trust me with running the stand while he went to the city for errands. I was confident in my ability to handle cash transactions, use the scale, and provide accurate change, and I gained his trust to run the sales.
With my uncle’s bicycle, I came up with a plan: I weighed two watermelons, loaded them onto my bike’s handlebars, left my cousin in charge of the stand, and went house-to-house selling watermelons. It worked! Within minutes, I sold two watermelons and repeated this cycle until we were almost out of stock by evening. When my uncle returned, he couldn’t believe it—he thought we’d given watermelons away. But once he saw the cash, he was blown away by the sales we had achieved.
When I moved to the U.S., this experience and mindset came with me. In a country with abundant opportunities and inspiring stories of success, I felt even more driven. Coming from a country with limited resources, I had a natural hunger to make something of myself, and I’m now on that journey. My goal is to set an example and become a role model for others who come from similar backgrounds, proving that hard work and determination can lead to success.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
In looking back at my journey, three qualities and skills have had the biggest impact on my success: resilience, adaptability, and a strong work ethic.
Resilience: There were many challenges and unexpected situations along the way, from adapting to a new country to navigating the ups and downs of the logistics industry. Developing resilience allowed me to push through setbacks and stay committed to my goals. My advice to those starting out is to remember that setbacks are part of growth—learn to see them as opportunities to build strength. Find ways to keep moving forward, even when things seem difficult, and you’ll become more resilient over time.
Adaptability: The logistics industry is constantly evolving, and I quickly learned that being adaptable is essential. This skill is especially valuable in an industry that requires swift problem-solving and decision-making. For newcomers, I’d suggest staying curious and open to change. Whether it’s learning new technology, adjusting to different roles, or taking on unexpected tasks, embrace these changes as ways to grow and stay relevant in a competitive field.
Work Ethic: A strong work ethic has been the foundation of my journey. My upbringing taught me the value of hard work, and it’s a quality I’ve carried into my business. For anyone early in their journey, remember that success often comes down to the time and effort you’re willing to invest. Commit yourself to your goals, stay disciplined, and aim to go above and beyond in everything you do.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was to create a foundation of pride, dignity, and respect despite the incredibly challenging times we faced in Armenia. I was born in 1991, a year when Armenia was undergoing major upheaval and hardship. This was a cold, dark period marked by economic instability, limited resources, and constant uncertainty, which placed a heavy burden on many families.
Growing up in those conditions, my father made it his mission to find a better life for our family. He set out for the United States with the determination to build a foundation strong enough to bring me and my brother over for a brighter future. It wasn’t an easy journey for him, but he succeeded in establishing himself and eventually brought us to the U.S., giving us the chance to pursue opportunities that weren’t available in Armenia at the time.
My parents raised us with a strong sense of pride, dignity, and respect. They taught me and my brother to hold our heads high, to work hard, and to always treat others with respect. These values are deeply rooted in me, and they’ve become the guiding principles in my life and career. I’m grateful every day for the sacrifices they made to give us a better life, and I carry their teachings with me in everything I do. Their resilience and commitment have been my biggest inspiration.
