We recently connected with Hana Hawthorne and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Hana with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I dove headfirst into the working world at just 17 years old and quickly realized the value of experience and hard work. Inspired by my mother’s journey of building her own successful business from scratch, I knew I had to carve my own path and develop the skills necessary for success. Drawing from her example and combining it with my own talents, I set out to create something truly mine. My main focus has always been to maintain a strong work ethic while prioritizing self-care to avoid burnout. I’ve seen the toll that burnout can take on others, and I’m determined to avoid it at all costs while striving to do my best. Balancing my ambition with self-care has become my top priority since graduating from college.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
At Lyfejourneys, women receive compassionate support to navigate life transitions, cultivate resilience, and regain a sense of tranquility and empowerment. Hana’s inspiration for creating Lyfejourneys stemmed from her own journey of overcoming life’s hurdles and learning to manage anxiety.
Her mission is to transform the way women perceive themselves during times of adversity, emphasizing their resilience and ability to achieve remarkable feats when they channel their focus and determination.
The services offered at Lyfejourneys encompass a spectrum of therapeutic and coaching options designed specifically for women, providing them with vital coping skills to alleviate stress and embrace a purposeful practice of radical self-care.
As part of its holistic approach, Lyfejourneys plans to introduce additional community-oriented activities, including sister circles, yoga sessions, a revitalized book club, workshops focusing on stress management and procrastination reduction, as well as community walks.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back at when I first started out, I can confidently admit that I had no clue what I was doing. Despite that, I had big ideas and quickly learned how to execute them practically, which helped me create a strong foundation for Lyfejourneys.
1) Being authentic has allowed me to stay true to myself and my brand, enabling me to connect with full confidence and provide unique care along with my services.
2) I have mastered the art of tailoring my services to my target audience, accepting that my organization is not for everyone. I can think quickly on my feet and adapt to ever-changing times and events.
3) I have developed financial health by understanding how to maintain a budget, manage cash flow, and allocate resources to maintain a successful business.
Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Two books, Sister of the Yam by Bell Hooks and The Mountain is You by Brianna Wiest, made me feel seen and heard while reading. The knowledge I gained from these books played a pivotal role in carving out offerings and building up who I am today.
There is power in community. Combating isolation can get the best of women, but fostering empowerment builds us up and encourages us to be our best selves. Community is healing and nurturing. Reading Sisters of Yam aided me in gaining a better understanding of the fact that I have a village that I can lean into whenever needed.
Embracing change during discomfort. Facing our fears can make us feel defeated, but we can build resilience to overcome them.
We are building habits for self-improvement, giving ourselves grace, and being comfortable with vulnerability.
