Hana, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
My enduring passion for music has been a guiding force throughout my life. From childhood hobbies to studying music and production, and eventually working as a music producer, performer and teacher, is a journey that reflects a deep connection. Music, for me, is more than a skill – it’s a profound form of expression, providing a unique way to communicate and share emotions that words often struggle to convey. Currently, my primary focus is ensuring the younger generation benefits from these insights, fostering their continued growth and passing all my experience and skills I gained over the years.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m Hana, a passionate music producer, multi-instrumentalist, and teacher originally from the Czech Republic, now based in the UK. With a BMus (hons) and MSc degree, along with a Pedagogical diploma, I offer a diverse range of music and production services, including composing, performing, recording, and editing. I provide online or in-person lessons in music theory, production, and instruments like drums and piano. My background includes professional international performances with orchestras, collaborations with successful artists around the world, and several years of teaching. As a female music producer and drummer, I’m committed to supporting the under-representation of women in the music industry. My focus involves collaborating with fellow artists and imparting my experience and skills to the younger generation. I also continue to learn and evolve by creating my own music.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Reflecting on my musical journey’s beginnings, it was fueled by curiosity, exploring various instruments, and the desire to continually improve. Despite a busy schedule from childhood, engaging in sports, arts, dance, and science alongside intense instrument practice became a consistent part of my life.
Maintaining balance among education, activities, work, and social life necessitated organization and discipline, skills I cultivated in my early age. Establishing daily routines focused on productivity and purpose has been crucial in achieving my goals.
I firmly believe that the level of success is determined by our level of perseverance, hard work, and the willingness to step out of one’s comfort zone. Embracing challenges has been essential to my current success. It’s vital to stay motivated, exuding positive energy toward your goals.
In summary, find yourself passion, work hard, stay disciplined, and maintain a positive mindset. Embrace failures as learning opportunities, proving to yourself that you can overcome setbacks. Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
In my journey, numerous individuals, situations, and life stories have provided motivation and inspiration. I express gratitude to mentors and teachers who played important roles in shaping my musicianship, skills, and knowledge. Thanks extend to those I’ve met along the way, collaborated with, and learned from, even those whose demotivating words fueled my ambition. But the utmost appreciation goes to my closest friends and family for incredible support. Whether side by side or miles apart, the connection with them remains strong, linked by heart.
