We were lucky to catch up with Hanna Kazeka recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hanna, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
Keeping my creativity alive is really about staying curious and open to inspiration wherever it comes from. Creativity is not something that just appears, but it’s something you have to work at over time.
I try to explore things outside of motion design to keep my perspective fresh. For example, I’ll look at fashion, architecture, or photography and think about how ideas from those areas could influence my work. I’m also really into trying out new tools and technologies, like AI-powered animation software, to see how they can push my creative process in new directions.
Taking breaks is super important too. Honestly, some of my best ideas come when I’m not even working, but when I’m out for a walk, visiting a museum, or just observing little things in the world around me. Traveling, when I get the chance, is a huge source of inspiration too. It’s great for getting a fresh perspective.
Collaboration is another big part of staying creative for me. Motion design is such a team-oriented field, and working with other people often sparks ideas I wouldn’t have come up with on my own. Even just chatting casually with peers or mentors can lead to a breakthrough.
And finally, I think personal projects are a big part of keeping creativity alive. They let me experiment without any restrictions, which is where I often discover new techniques or ideas that I can bring back into my professional work. For me, it’s all about finding the right balance between exploring, playing, and staying focused.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’ve always loved art and storytelling. Even when I was a kid, I’d spend hours drawing or trying out new creative projects, it was just something that made me happy. Eventually, that love for creating things naturally led me to motion design. It’s this amazing combination of art and technology where you can bring ideas to life in a way that’s really engaging and fun to watch.
What I think is so great about motion design is how versatile it is. The field is always evolving, so there’s always something new to dive into—whether it’s learning a new tool or experimenting with a new technique. I like working on a variety of things, whether it’s 2D animation, 3D visuals, or compositing. It keeps things exciting, and I feel like there’s always room to grow.
Another thing I love is the community. The industry is pretty small, but that’s what makes it feel close. People are so open to sharing their experiences and helping each other improve. It’s really inspiring to be part of a group of people who are so passionate and supportive.
Honestly, motion design feels like the perfect fit for me. It’s creative, it’s technical, and it’s always pushing you to learn and try new things. It’s the kind of work that keeps you curious and excited, which is exactly what I’ve always wanted in a career.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I’d say three things have been really important in my journey: adaptability, strategic thinking, and collaboration. Adaptability has been huge, especially in a field like motion design where everything is constantly evolving. Being open to learning new tools and techniques has helped me stay versatile and ready for different kinds of challenges. Strategic thinking has also played a big role, it’s about being intentional with your choices. For me, that meant pursuing internships, freelance gigs, and opportunities that not only built my skills but also helped me create a strong portfolio and position myself for success.
And honestly, collaboration has been just as important. Motion design is all about teamwork, and I’ve found that clear communication, being open to feedback, and building good relationships can make all the difference. It’s not just about what you can do on your own but how well you can work with others to bring ideas to life.

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing my parents did for me was letting me be myself and encouraging my independence. They always supported me in exploring my interests and passions without trying to push their own expectations on me. That gave me the freedom to figure out what really excites and inspires me. Their trust in my decisions, even when I chose paths that were a little unconventional or challenging, helped me build confidence in myself and what I’m capable of. They created a space where I felt safe to take risks and grow, and that’s what empowered me to pursue a career in motion design and create a life that feels true to who I am.
