We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hanna Monservas. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hanna below.
Hanna, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I credit my work ethic to my family. I’ve always been very family-oriented, and they’ve been my biggest support system from the very beginning. Their encouragement is a huge part of why I’m able to stay motivated and continue pushing forward, especially in moments when things feel overwhelming.
Being an entrepreneur comes with a lot of challenges, and there are definitely times when stress or discouragement can make you question everything. Having my family by my side through every high and low reminds me why I started and keeps me grounded and focused.
Another major part of my work ethic comes from my faith in God. Trusting his plan for my life gives me strength, direction, and the assurance that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be. Together, my family and my faith are what fuel me every day.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I’m the owner of Hanna’s Pup Cuts LLC, where I work as a professional dog groomer. One of my favorite things about this career is that no two days are ever the same. I get to work with dogs of all different breeds, personalities, and temperaments, and each groom brings its own creative challenge. Whether it’s perfecting a specific haircut style or helping a nervous pup feel comfortable, the variety keeps me inspired every single day.
As a business owner, I’m deeply committed to quality over quantity. Safety is always my top priority, because grooming involves sharp tools, close handling, and a deep understanding of each dog’s behavior. I take my time to make sure every pup feels safe, cared for, and understood throughout the process.
On the artistic side, I’ve always been a perfectionist and very detail-oriented, so creating clean, beautiful, and personalized grooms is something I take great pride in. There’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a pup walk out looking adorable or receiving photos from owners showing off their freshly groomed dogs. Those moments truly make my day.
What I want people to know about my brand is that it’s built on patience, compassion, and genuine love for dogs. Every pup I work with is treated like family, and my goal is always to provide a positive, safe, and happy experience for both the dog and the owner.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the three qualities that had the greatest impact on my journey were patience, dedication, and discipline. Each of these played a major role in helping me grow both personally and professionally.
If I could offer advice to anyone who’s just starting out, I would say that patience is absolutely essential. I started from the ground up and explored several different career paths before finding my true purpose. It took time, trial and error, and a lot of learning along the way. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and it’s completely normal not to have everything figured out right away. Trusting the process is vital, because with patience, clarity eventually comes.
Once you begin to discover what you want long-term, dedication becomes the driving force. You have to show up for yourself every day, even on the hard days, and continue taking steps toward your goals. Consistency builds momentum, and over time, it transforms into progress.
Discipline is what keeps everything together. Running a business or pursuing any meaningful path requires focus, sacrifice, and the willingness to push past your comfort zone. That often means networking, meeting new people, and creating connections that can open doors. Growth happens when you challenge yourself.
My biggest takeaway is that if you stay patient, remain dedicated, and practice discipline, you can achieve whatever you set your mind to. The journey may not be easy, but it’s absolutely worth it.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The biggest challenge I face right now is learning how to step out of my own way. I can be extremely self-critical, especially when it comes to my work. As a groomer, I’m very detail-oriented, and I often expect every haircut to turn out exactly how I envisioned it. When a groom doesn’t look as perfect or as “cute” as I hoped, I can get frustrated with myself.
What has helped me put things into perspective is the feedback I receive from others. When I’ve worked alongside coworkers or spoken with clients, the response has consistently been positive. That has reminded me that my standards for myself are much higher than anyone else’s, and that my work is strong even when I don’t think it is.
To overcome this challenge, I try to focus on growth rather than perfection. I remind myself that every day is a learning opportunity, and if something doesn’t come out exactly how I envisioned, it simply gives me insight into how I can improve next time. I’m also learning to accept that nothing will ever be 100% perfect, and that being too hard on myself takes away from the joy of what I do.
At the end of the day, the most important thing is that each dog leaves safe, comfortable, and happy, and that their owner loves the result. As long as I’m accomplishing that, I’m doing my job well.
