We were lucky to catch up with Hannah Elliott recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
I get my resilience from a long line of strong women on both my mother’s and father’s side—women who carried grit, tenacity, unwavering determination and fearlessness. I once heard my mom tell my Nannie “you could fight in your sleep.”That same spirit runs through me. But what has truly grown and sustained my resilience is the grace of God. It’s His strength in my weakness that has shaped me, refined me, and taught how to rise despite.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m Hannah, a fashion designer/personal wardrobe stylist with a passion for fashion that began in Allentown, Pennsylvania. From a young age, I was captivated by fashion design and couture, which led me to sketch and dream of pursuing a career in the industry. I graduated from The Art Institute of Philadelphia with a Bachelor of Science in Fashion Marketing, and soon after, I moved to New York City to further pursue a career in fashion styling.
I began assisting for Andy Warhol Interview Magazine and worked on shoots for top brands like *Vogue Singapore*, *Harper’s Bazaar UK*, and *L’Officiel*. I also worked on major campaigns for Kate Spade, Cole Haan, and CoverGirl, among others. These experiences shaped me into the stylist I am today, helping clients discover their unique style and tell their personal stories through fashion.
My journey has given me a broad skill set—from styling to fashion marketing, branding, merchandising, and managing high-end sample trafficking and now design. Along the way, I had the privilege of working with Hearst Magazines’ Cosmopolitan For Latinas/Hearst International, and earned styling editorial credits in Remix Magazine(New Zealand) and Push It Magazine(UK).
This season, Elliott Ellick is fully dedicated to the art of custom garments, reconstructed pieces, and intentional fashion design.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three qualities that had the greatest impact on my journey are:
1. Being observant.
Learning to watch the room and take everything in has been invaluable. There’s so much wisdom in silence—just observing those who are more seasoned and skilled can teach you a world of wonder.
2. Being driven and tenacious.
Never let go of the dreams and visions placed within you. Even when the path feels uncertain, stay committed and walk them out with purpose and resilience.
3. Trusting God-given discernment.
There are moments when your gut——tells you to pause. Always honor that. I’ve learned (sometimes the hard way) that many situations could’ve been avoided had I trusted that inner “no,” understanding it was God’s protection, just as powerful as a “yes.”
Advice for those early in their journey:
Stay humble in all things , remain consistent, and don’t rush the process. As your grow and heal in the journey…so will your vision. Trust god in all things.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Focusing on the construction of design and learning to be patient with the process has been my biggest area of growth this past year. I’ve learned to give myself grace—to make mistakes, to try again, and to grow through it. The journey of improvement hasn’t been perfect, but it’s been purposeful. Each stitch has told a story and unveiled a lesson.
