We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hannah Marie Muse a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hannah Marie, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I believe our purpose is an ever evolving journey, just like life.
When I was younger, in my 20’s – I knew my purpose was massage and energy work because those things saved my life. Yoga became very important to me, so working at a studio and helping the students was aligned with my personal journey.
Now, I teach pole dance classes and mindset to ladies. I travel and support others seeking a sober lifestyle to still enjoy their lives living la vida loca. 🙂
As I evolve, my work evolves. As I grow, my purpose grows.
Who I am and what I’ve gone through is always an opportunity to share with others.
My invitation for you, is to look at what you are passionate about and how that can help others.
Look where you thrive naturally.
Notice what people need in the world.
And combine all these things into your purpose.
Honestly, the Japanese have a word for it: ikigai
what you love (your passion)
what the world needs (your mission)
what you are good at (your vocation)
and what you can get paid for (your profession)
It’s so true. I just like to learn on the go. I like to follow my bliss and as I’m in my own person initiatons pause and reflect. It’s in those periods and change and growth I realize there are a lot of people who could use the tools or “treasure map” I did to also find peace.
And there you have it.
You are valuable.
Your journey is valuable.
So own that and then give it away to others.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Ahhh! There’s so much magic in my world.
I’m actually on a train through Czech Republic, heading to France for a pole photoshoot in an abandoned castle. I feel tired and wish I had gotten to bed earlier but I’m grateful I had a final night of spa and sauna in the small town I was visiting.
My heart is on fire. I cry every day tears of “WOW this is my life” and I want the whole world to feel this level of wonder, beauty, and connection to source energy I do.
Why is this important? Stay with me, a year ago (almost!) on July 22 I started a nonprofit. That’s Mary Magdelene Feast day. The church, yes, it’s technically a church, is called Her Temple of Holy Eminense and it’s a space for the Divine Feminine to come back to it’s natural balance and power with the Masculine. Jesus and Mary were a team, ya’ll!
So, I’ve been traveling through Europe on a Pilgrimage of sorts. I didn’t really mean for it to happen this way, but the energy here has brought it clearly into my awareness.. and it just so happens I’ll be visiting a sacred site of Mary Magdalene on her Feast Day (also on accident) simply because I was following my love of Pole Dancing and adventure.
So what do I do? I teach women pole dancing and help human beings enjoy their erotic innocence so that they can stay connected to their live force energy and live vibrantly alive.
We have this crazy stigma around sexuality and freedom in the US where as in a lot of Europe people are naked at the beach or in spas and it’s totally normal. I want that world and freedom back for everyone.. and I desire to live in a world where women feel confident in their bodies regardless of shape, size, etc.
My intention with the church and all the different classes (pole, tantra, art) is to share with women their creative natures and support them in programming new, expanded beliefs about themselves and whats possible. For themselves, their families, their love lives, everything.
I’m so excited. From music for the church, classes, pole dancing, and soon to be international retreats, it’s really beautiful to be able to live my dream life and help others enjoy that as well.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Great question:
1. Have a thirst for knowledge, truth, and wisdom..
For me, even my mentors or people who “have what I want.” I will double, triple check myself as to not give my power away and just blindly accept answers. I want to feel and know so I practice feeling and knowing in my body. Means sometimes I make a few more mistakes but there’s a subtle nuance to having an experience for yourself rather than simply taking someones word for it. That’s how I trust myself.. because I’ve lived my life and gone my own way and own my mistakes which means I can also own my successes.
2. Have a connection to something greater than yourself. This is so important, but I do find that living for more than myself is paramount in having impact. Obviously. But I mean, having a higher power, too. There’s been so many moments I question how I did something or how I managed to stay alive or even make the amount of money I have..
and it’s all my higher power. I pray to my angels, masters, teachers, guides, the trees, flowers, god/goddess, my ancestors. I even acknowledge the mastermind frequency of my friend group as a higher power. Having the ability to connect and trust this power of LIFE is something I would be dead with out. And.. is the reason I’m thriving, joyful, and radiantly alive now.
3. Immense amounts of self love and finding balance. Love meaning – all parts of love. Compassion, forgiveness, wonder, joy, play.. humility! Oh my god, to succeed at anything in life, you have to have a light heart, humility to accept your shortcomings and grace to continue growing. There are days my inner critic is a beast! There are days I’m on the top of the world. The key is to move with humility, stay balanced. Trust the ups and downs but hold your center. I know for me, that’s taken a few years to truly grasp, but the progress is delicious and I often remind myself I’m running a marathon, not a sprint.
I’m excited to hear what ya’ll think about this. It’s fun to share. There’s so many things to honesty say here! But that’s the short and sweet version. Great food for thought.
How would you describe your ideal client?
I love this question.
My ideal client is someone who “has it all” and recognizes that there’s still an emptiness. My ideal client is a woman who is radiant and beautiful but struggles knowing her worth so spends too much time drinking or scrolling and is ready to actualize her dreams by cutting out the toxic behaviors and going full send into the fires of transmutation to see who is on the other side of her pheonix rising.
I love working with artists, helping them embody more of their pleasure power, I love working with successful entrepreneurs who feel too stuffy.
Gosh, even couples who have been together a long time and can’t seem to unlock the same kind of pleasure.
My work though, right now, is for women who are ready to embrace their most confident and creative selves.
They are the diamonds in the rough who just need a little bestie cheerleader who is going to help them chip away the old bullsh*t and say yes to being the new hotsh*t.
They’re girlies with resiliences and kindness, who are sexy and carefree – but caring. Girls who know they’re valuable but just haven’t fully allowed their angel wings to open yet. 🙂
