Meet Hannah McDowell

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Hannah McDowell. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Hannah below.

Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Hannah with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?

I definitely inherited my work ethic from my dad. He’s always been incredibly driven, and growing up around that set a strong foundation for me. But on a deeper level, it’s something that’s been part of who I am for as long as I can remember. Before I was even old enough to have a job, I started an Instagram account at 13 where I found and posted everything that Kylie Jenner wore, and figured out how to monetize it. I’ve always been wired to create, build, and stay productive.

I thrive on structure and routine; my brain honestly doesn’t function well without it. When it comes to styling, that work ethic feels natural because I genuinely love what I do. Helping clients feel confident and their absolute best is what motivates me, so showing up fully and putting in the work never feels forced. When you care that deeply about the outcome and the people you’re working with, a strong work ethic comes easily.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I’m a wardrobe stylist, and at the core of what I do is helping people feel confident, powerful, and fully themselves through what they wear. Styling is not just about clothes for me. It is about understanding the person, the moment, and the message they want to communicate, whether that is a red carpet appearance, a major life moment, or everyday life.

What excites me most is the transformation that happens when someone truly feels good in what they are wearing. Fashion has the ability to instantly shift confidence and energy, and being part of that process is what keeps me inspired. I love the collaborative nature of styling and working closely with clients to create looks that feel intentional, authentic, and aligned with who they are.

My brand is rooted in the belief that style should feel empowering rather than intimidating. I approach my work with a balance of creativity and structure, blending trend awareness with timeless dressing and a strong attention to detail. Whether I am styling for editorial, events, or personal clients, my goal is always to help people feel their absolute best.

Right now, I am focused on expanding my styling work and building new creative projects that combine fashion, storytelling, and personal branding. I am excited about what is ahead and grateful to continue growing in a space that constantly inspires me.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

The first is consistency and work ethic. Showing up prepared, on time, and ready to work has opened more doors for me than anything else. My advice is to treat your goals like a job before they become one and build routines that keep you accountable.

The second is adaptability. Styling is unpredictable, so learning how to problem solve quickly and stay calm under pressure is essential. Say yes to experiences that challenge you and force you to think on your feet.

The third is people skills and relationship building. Styling is collaborative, and trust matters. Listen more than you talk, be professional, and focus on making people feel comfortable. Strong relationships often matter just as much as talent.

How would you describe your ideal client?

My ideal client values collaboration and trusts the creative process. They communicate clearly, respect the work, and are open to trying new ideas. Most importantly, they care about how they feel in what they wear, not just how it looks, which makes the partnership meaningful and fun.
