Hannah (nickname Jewels), so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

Remember that confidence isn’t about never feeling doubt—it’s about moving forward despite it. Surround yourself with people who believe in you, keep working on your craft, and trust that setbacks don’t define you. And, like my mom always said, God has not given you a spirit of fear—so don’t live like you have one.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

My name is Hannah Jewel Clark, but most people call me Jewels. I’m a serial entrepreneur, founder, and artist who believes in pioneering new ways of doing things—finding possibilities where others see limits.

My first business, JC Times, is a consulting firm that helps businesses grow in every way except accounting—our motto is everything we touch, we multiply. Under JC Times, I lead the House of Hannah project, where I creatively direct and bring life, love, and luxury to brands and experiences.

I also founded How To Be Social, an artist-driven movement that puts friendship over money and power in the entertainment industry. We believe success should be built on good character, morals, and values, and we help each other achieve our dreams without compromise. This mission is rooted in the verse:
“For God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.”

As an artist, I book myself across multiple creative fields—music, DJing, acting, and content creation. I also serve as the Creative Director for The Jems Universe, a brand built around three characters—a musician, a DJ, and an actress. Through them, we teach young women (and a few good men) how to embody courage, class, and confidence in everything they do.

A lot of people look at my life and wonder, How can she be doing something different every single day? Honestly, some days, I hate it. The uncertainty, the constant change—it’s not always easy. But overall, I’m incredibly grateful.

What drives me is showing people that they, too, can do anything they set their minds to. We’re often told to stay in one lane, to pick a single path—but I believe in creating your own. If you have the courage to believe in yourself, put in the work, and stay true to your values, there’s no dream too big. I want my life to be proof of that.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1. Creativity & Hands-On Learning
As a kid, I loved doing art—anything to keep my hands busy and my mind engaged. That natural curiosity turned into a lifelong passion for creativity. I’ve always believed that if you want to be great at something, you have to do it, not just think about it. My advice? Pick up the skill and start practicing. Whether it’s art, music, writing, or business, you’re going to need at least 1,000 hours to be truly great, even if you have a natural talent for it.

2. Communication & Storytelling
I’ve always been drawn to the English language and the power of words. That led me to study NPR (National Public Relations) and Journalism, with a minor in World Studies. Learning how to tell a story—whether through writing, speaking, or content creation—became one of the most valuable skills in my career. For those starting out, I’d say: learn how to communicate clearly and effectively. Whether you’re in business, marketing, or the arts, your ability to share ideas and connect with people will set you apart.

3. Business & Psychology
After diving into digital marketing and business, I realized I wanted to understand the human mind on a deeper level—so I got my Master’s in Psychology. Today, I use everything I’ve learned to build brands, consult businesses, and connect with people in meaningful ways. My advice? Learn how people think. Whether through formal education or real-world experience, understanding psychology will help you in marketing, leadership, sales, negotiations, and even personal relationships.

At the end of the day, success isn’t about having it all figured out from the start. It’s about constantly learning, adapting, and putting in the time. No matter what you want to do, just start. Keep going. The skills you build today will shape the future you create.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

Without a doubt, my mom has been the most influential person in shaping who I am today. She was a single parent who made the incredible sacrifice of not dating for 18 years while raising my sister and me—just to make sure we turned out all right. I think we did OK… but you’d have to ask her. Lol.

Her dedication, resilience, and unconditional love taught me the importance of hard work, sacrifice, and integrity. She showed me what it means to stay committed to your values and put the people you love first. Watching her navigate life with strength and grace gave me the foundation I needed to overcome challenges and build the skills that drive my success today.

Everything I do—from business to creativity to personal growth—is a reflection of the values she instilled in me. I wouldn’t be where I am without her.
