We were lucky to catch up with Hannahcamille Thomas recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannahcamille , so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
When it comes to the room, I take this as an analogy I’ve learned, which is to use a key in order to open a door. When opportunity meets preparation it births success. Giving myself boundaries, and guidelines in life has been an effective way for me to be successful in any room I enter. Preparing yourself is building your talents, disciplining your strengths and establishing growth. This doesn’t happen overnight but overtime. Along the way you’ll come across opportunities that allow you to then prepare yourself for success.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I found in the Phoenix area chamber of commerce in 2023. I established myself with a similar chamber of commerce and applied for the Hollywood president chapter role. I gained the position as president at 28 and found a gap in the commerce industry. The lack of support with the youth and adults was tremendous, as I networked in the city of Los Angeles California. I grew to understand that the 2000’s ‘’ hustle, hard or die trying” mentality was weakening and meaning. People wanted to not survive, but live in thrive in a work environment. The renaissance was born.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey were business, forcasting and trends. My educational background and entertainment. Business has carried me a long way for seeing trends, and the commerce industry is a given along with forecasting and business business allows me to have a connection with any industry client that we have and forecasting is really good for the executives my businesses do business with..
All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
Times after the pandemic. COVID-19 created a big gap in all industries; as a young business leader in my times, it kind of shook the earth. We get to walk and be in atmospheres that we never really had opportunities to do so before the pandemic. This had everyone take their businesses seriously and connect with one another so that we can make a plan to establish ourselves as the next generation to establish wealth in a healthy environment.
