We were lucky to catch up with Hari-Prakash Boyd recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hari-Prakash, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
Trauma. Autism and trauma. The combo is a super power really. I’d like to say it’s because of my outgoing personality, or because my father instilled a strong work ethic in me, but in reality it’s because I’ve had no choice but to keep going. There’s only one way out of this life, and it’s not my time yet. No one saves you but yourself and that is a beautiful lesson to learn, though it can also be a painful one.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I want consumers to have access to healthy, affordable for most skincare. Sadly the world of beauty is mainly controlled by chemical and pharmaceutical companies. Pushing petroleum and petroleum based by-products into our lives and insisting there is nothing wrong with those ingredients and they cause no health risks. Most skincare is sold because of marketing and not because of what is actually in it. After being in the industry for 15 years, I wanted to create a product that fed and nurtured peoples skin with no preservatives and also didn’t contain any silicones or petroleum byproducts, which all come from the chemical industry.
I also want humans to feel loved and cared for. It’s why I place charged seed crystals into every bottle or pipette. Self love and self care are essential to our mental state and I want my products to feed peoples body, mind and spirit.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
You must do your own research and follow your own intuition. Our world has become very toxic because we have been gaslight into believe in removed from deep within the earth. If you speak to a chemist or product formulator, they will insists that all petroleum and silicone products are safe to use, but that is frankly not the case. Let’s pretend nothing leaches from these ingredients into the skin. They are completely inert and have zero effect on highly absorbent skin. Okay, cool, but they do bio-accumulcate in the environment, meaning they are attracted to each other and hang out together. This isn’t good for all the creatures great and small. I find it odd how humans believe things are safe as long as they don’t directly effect them. I don’t know about you, but my simple cleanser should not be causing frogs to grow 5 legs and my moisturizer should not be causing fish to grow two heads.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
A Fine Balance and The Red Tent were very impactful on me. I read them both in my 20’s and they made me realize bad things do happen to good people and sometimes you cannot control things that are happening to you, and this does not mean it’s your fault. God or the world does not punish us, people do.
As for wisdom, stop waiting for your life to start or happen because it already is. Don’t put things off thinking, “when I get married”, or “one day I’ll do that” How we think things are going to play out is never how it actually does and if you are waiting to live your life, it will pass you by.
