We were lucky to catch up with Hawks Salonee recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hawks, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
“Where I’m from, resilience is non-negotiable. If you don’t have it, you’re not going to make it. People will talk down on you—whether it’s friends, your community, or even family. No one is exempt from it. For me, resilience comes from a mix of things. My mom worked tirelessly to get me to where I am today, and my friends helped me build tough skin. But at the end of the day, it’s about how you put it all together: you either believe you can or you believe you can’t. And that, for me, is what resilience is all about.”

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
When people ask about me, I can go on for hours because there’s so much to share. I like to be myself in a world where everyone’s trying to be someone else. I’m an artist—I make music and design clothes because I genuinely enjoy creating and wearing what I make. For me, it’s all about fun and making the most of life. They say life’s short, and I want to squeeze every bit of greatness out of it. I always say “There’s a million opportunities to be great, and I don’t want to miss any of them.”
I see myself as a pillar in this world. I can’t settle for small impacts—I want to make a big one. It brings me joy to see people smile, whether it’s from my music or someone getting some free merch at the right place, at the right time. I’ve given a lot to my community in the past, and I plan to continue making an impact on the people around me for as long as I can.
Recently, I launched my clothing brand, Salonee Outerwear, which I’m super excited about. Plus, I’ve got an album coming soon—so stay tuned for that! I’m all about building, creating, and spreading good energy.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
I’d say the three biggest things that helped me on my journey are:
1. Not being afraid to stand out and be seen.
Being your real, authentic self goes a long way. You never know who’s watching or who might need to see someone being 100% themselves. Your confidence can really inspire people.
2. Always count yourself in.
Don’t doubt yourself. Period. You could be way closer to your goal than you realize. Believing in yourself—even when it’s hard is a key. (Hint. Hint.)
3. Keep looking forward.
It’s cool to look back and see how far you’ve come, but don’t stay there. Where you’re headed matters way more. Your past might shape you, but your future is what’s going to make you.
And for anyone just starting out in there journey:
Make sure you’ve got good people around you—but don’t be scared to solo if you have to. Not everyone will get your vision, and that’s fine. Just keep showing up and showing out, keep building, and trust your path.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always down to collaborate. They say great minds think alike, and I’m looking to connect with people who have outlandish ideas—the kind some might even call crazy. Visionaries like Edison and so many others were once seen as wild for what they believed, and it turns out they were right, haha. It’s crazy that we can light up a room with just the flick of a switch now.
There are tons of ways to get in touch with me—whether through social media or just a phone call. I’m excited to work with talented artists on the come-up, as well as established ones who are looking to add something fresh—like me. So if you’re reading this, hit me up!
