Meet Healthcare Providers Natasha Weems, DNP, AGPCNP-BC

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Healthcare Providers Natasha Weems, DNP, AGPCNP-BC a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Healthcare Providers Natasha , thank you so much for joining us and offering your lessons and wisdom for our readers. One of the things we most admire about you is your generosity and so we’d love if you could talk to us about where you think your generosity comes from.
My generosity is deeply rooted in my personal experiences growing up in the inner city. Being constantly exposed to unfortunate circumstances and witnessing the struggles of those around me instilled in me a profound sense of empathy and a desire to contribute positively to my community. From a young age, I was acutely aware of the disparities and challenges faced by underserved populations. This awareness ignited a strong commitment within me to be an agent of change.

I’ve always harbored the aspiration to make a significant difference in someone’s life, not just through words, but through tangible actions. This commitment translated into a drive to provide resources and access to opportunities for those who might not have them readily available. My experiences taught me the importance of not turning a blind eye to the suffering of others.

Moreover, my generosity stems from a deep-seated belief in the power of giving back. I recognize that I am blessed to be in a situation where I can offer help, and I see it as a responsibility and a privilege to extend that help to others. This principle has guided my actions and decisions, continually reminding me that every act of kindness, no matter how small, can have a profound impact on someone’s life.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
As the founder of Care First Wellness Med Spa in Southern California, my professional journey intertwines deeply with my personal passions and experiences. At the core of my work is a commitment to health and wellness advocacy, which is not just a profession but a way of life for me. My approach is holistic, focusing not just on physical well-being but on mental and emotional health as well.

What makes my work particularly exciting is the opportunity to touch lives in a very personal and transformative way. Through the Med Spa, we offer a range of services that cater to enhancing both physical and mental well-being, utilizing the latest in wellness therapies. It’s incredibly fulfilling to see our clients embark on journeys of self-discovery and healing, and to know that we play a part in that process.

My book, ‘Unbreakable Woman: Embracing Resilience in Every Season,’ is a reflection of my life’s philosophy. It encapsulates the essence of resilience, drawing from my experiences of raising a child with autism and navigating the myriad challenges that come with it. This book is not just a testament to personal strength, but also a guide to help others find their own resilience in the face of adversity.

Beyond my professional endeavors, I am deeply committed to mentoring women in my community. I believe in the power of shared experiences and collective wisdom, which is why I collaborate with other powerful, like-minded women to host women empowerment networking events across the United States. These events are not just about networking; they are about building a community of support, learning, and growth.

Looking ahead, we are excited about expanding our wellness offerings at the Med Spa, introducing new therapies that focus on holistic healing. Additionally, there are several women empowerment events in the pipeline, which promise to be even more engaging and impactful. My goal is to create spaces where women can come together, learn from each other, and leave feeling empowered to tackle any of life’s challenges.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back on my journey, the three most impactful qualities that have shaped my path are resilience, authenticity, and a commitment to lifelong learning.

1. Resilience: Raising a child with autism has imbued me with an unwavering sense of resilience. It’s about embracing challenges and adapting to life’s changes with courage and optimism. For those at the beginning of their journey, I advise seeing obstacles as stepping stones. Cultivate a mindset that focuses on growth and long-term achievements, despite the hurdles along the way.
2. Authenticity and Transparency: My work with the homeless clinic in Detroit has deeply impacted my perspective on life. It taught me the power of authenticity, transparency, and giving back. Understanding the stories behind people’s struggles has been pivotal. To those starting out, I recommend being true to yourself and others. Authenticity builds trust and connections, essential in any field, especially in roles impacting people directly.
3. Lifelong Learning: Writing ‘Unbreakable Woman’ and hosting women empowerment events have reinforced the importance of continual learning and adaptation. The world is constantly evolving, and staying informed and adaptable is key. For newcomers, seize every learning opportunity – whether through formal education, mentorship, or your own experiences. Stay curious and open to new perspectives.

In essence, foster resilience, embrace authenticity, and always be open to learning. These qualities are vital not just for professional success but for personal fulfillment as well.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am actively seeking partnerships and collaborations with individuals and organizations aligned with my mission of empowering women and uplifting communities, especially those reminiscent of my upbringing in Detroit.

I am looking to collaborate with:

1. Community Leaders and Organizations: Those deeply embedded in their communities, understanding the unique challenges and opportunities.
2. Funding Experts and Financial Institutions: Professionals or entities adept in the complexities of funding, crucial for providing resources to entrepreneurs and community initiatives.
3. Media Professionals: Individuals in media who can amplify our narratives, increasing visibility to the issues we tackle.
4. Mentors and Educators: Experienced individuals offering guidance, mentorship, and educational resources.
5. Health and Wellness Advocates: Experts contributing to the physical and mental well-being of the communities we serve.
6. Philanthropists: Individuals who are not only in positions of influence and power but are also willing to extend their resources and networks to foster change and support community-based initiatives.
7. Influential Change-Makers: People who have the capacity to drive change and are gracious enough to use their influence to empower those striving to be a vessel for their community.

For those who feel a connection with this mission and are interested in making a real impact, I encourage you to reach out. Collaborative efforts and shared visions are the keystones of our success.
