Meet Heath Martin

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Heath Martin. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Heath below.

Heath, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
Confidence and Self Esteem are things that are constantly a work in progress. I’m often my own worst critic, but also my own biggest fan at the same time. I came up singing and performing R&B music, and baby if you ain’t confident? you are done before you’ve even started. so i surround myself with positive, and impactful mentors and peers.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
All my life I’ve been a performer. An entertainer. From putting on concerts for my family at an early age, to signing my 1st record deal at 13. in 2017 my life was in dire need of change. zi was artistically dying inside and the music biz offered no comfort. That’s when I found voice acting. I started by joining a community theater and working on my acting chops. I built a circle of mentors like impenetrable armor around my precious new endeavor. With Mentors like Steve Blum, the voice of Wolverine, Bob Bergen, the voice of Porky Pig, Rob Paulsen, the voice of Pinky and Yakko Warner from Pinky and the Brain and Animaniacs respectively. Jess Harnell, the voice of Wakko Warner, Vanessa Marshall the voice of Hera in Star Wars Rebels, and countless others, the list is constantly growing. I have chased my dreams with reckless abandon, both feet, head first… however you want to slice it I train constantly, I support my community and lead with gratitude. From being lost artistically, to 6 agents, a manager, and prominent roles in Video Games, Commercials, Animated projects and more… I am constantly growing and seeking excellence. You can even hear me on a prominent Burger King commercial airing right now! “It’s not the same without the flame”

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Believe in yourself, dream big! never give up. Always live with gratitude, and be kind. Those two principals, along with building the skill-set, have been instrumental in my growth and success.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
My 1st mentor in the business was Steve Blum. He’s my friend and mentor to this day. I found Steve through another instrumental mentor, Chuck Duran, founder of Demos That Rock! Steve started his career as Spike in Cowboy Bebop, then on to play Wolverine in Wolverine and the XMen, As well as being Guniess Book of World Records holder for “Most Prolific Male Voice Actor in Video Games” I’m an inaugural student of blumvoxstudios.com and I have not only learned the art of Voice acting from Steve, but also, how to function as a man in this biz as well as in life. He’s a great talent, an amazing teacher and friend, but mostly, a phenomenal man and human being.
