We recently connected with Heather Christine and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Finding my purpose was something I struggled with for a long time.
I have a broken relationship with my father and have been divorced.
At times, I felt lost, unable to know what my purpose was. I often mixed my dreams with my purpose and was consistently feeling let down.
As a single mother of 2, I have moved from one job to the next just to be able to raise my kids. It wasn’t until recently, when I started my own business, that I realized my purpose changes in every season of life. That working to find the 1 thing that makes me, me isn’t possible, nor should I make living all about that.
I am in a season of motherhood where my children and their needs need to be factored in. I needed to be able to find balance. My purpose is to live the best life I can and be present, and the truest version of myself, for my children’s sake. They will always be the purpose behind everything I do. No matter how old they get, I will always live as if they are watching!

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the founder and creator of Modern Business. We LOVE to watch people excel and bring their dreams to life.
We work through Business Strategies and build through connection. We believe the power of networking will take people places they have never dreamed of going.
At Modern Business, we are your biggest support and want to help you with your vision, no matter where you are in this journey.
Life is all about the community we built. Ask not what my community can do for me, but what you can do for your community.
In July, we launched a community magazine, Everyday Magazine. We highlight what is happening in the community one story at a time.
We are looking for partners ready to be the gateway to the community, through good stories, events, and advertising. We want to launch a magazine everywhere we can!!

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Never stop trying. Sometimes things can seem hopeless but have faith and stop worrying about what may never be.
Not everything will go as planned, so have a few backup plans for your plans. If you have more than 1 plan you will never be disappointed when it doesn’t work out.
Take time for what matters the most. Build from that and make your own happiness.
I wish I had the knowledge to save money for the things I didn’t think of. Those will be what cost you the most.
Never stop learning. The day you choose to stop is the day you will lose.
You never know how close you are, but if you give up, you will never find out.

All the wisdom you’ve shared today is sincerely appreciated. Before we go, can you tell us about the main challenge you are currently facing?
I have struggled with Imposter Syndrome. For so long, I lacked confidence professionally. I told myself that there are so many people out there who are doing what I am doing, and they are better than me. I was convinced that I didn’t deserve anything and that no one would pay me for my knowledge.
It has taken me years to overcome the sense of worthlessness, that was a lie from someone who didn’t know me.
I tried so hard to overcome so much that I stopped letting myself see the good in me. I had to build my worth again!
It is a daily reminder that I am worth the investment in myself.
