We were lucky to catch up with Heather Holmes recently and have shared our conversation below.
Heather , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
I didn’t find my purpose in a single moment, I grew into it, even though it was with me all along.
As a little girl, I was bold, confident, and wildly assured in my own rhythm. I led instinctively, often without waiting for permission. I wasn’t particularly selfless, I was self-full. I trusted my voice, knew what I wanted, and believed deeply in my timing. That certainty was my compass, even before I understood what it meant.
As I moved into the world of senior living, I brought that same energy- but life, loss, motherhood, love, and leadership softened me. I began to understand that true leadership isn’t about always being right. It’s about being real. I’ve learned to slow down, to listen deeper, to hold space for grief, transition, and healing. And I’ve learned that purpose isn’t something we arrive at. It’s something we live into.
Building The Vibe, a nature-inspired memory care home is the fullest expression of my soul’s work. It’s where intuition meets innovation, where we honor the aging process as something sacred and natural. It’s not just about care, it’s about creating belonging for elders, for families, for caregivers, and for ourselves.
I’m still learning. I’m still softening. And I’m still fiercely devoted to disrupting this industry with heart, vision, and unapologetic leadership.
My purpose is to walk boldly with kindness, to lead from the center of my being, and to remind others- especially women that they are allowed to grow, evolve, and bloom on their own terms.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I create spaces where people feel safe to be fully human.
In the world of senior living, that means disrupting the traditional model and reimagining what aging can look and feel like. I’m the founder of The Vibe, a nature-inspired assisted living memory care home rooted in soul-centered care, therapeutic connection, and deep reverence for life’s seasons. We treat food as medicine, honor each resident’s story, and center practices like music therapy, movement, and nature immersion to support well-being from the inside out.
What’s most exciting to me is that we’re not just building a business, we’re restoring sacredness to aging. We’re reminding people that elderhood is a vital, powerful phase of life that deserves beauty, softness, and dignity. The Vibe isn’t just a place to live. It’s a living, breathing experience of belonging.
Beyond The Vibe, I’m passionate about guiding others in their leadership journeys and helping them embrace their natural rhythms, reclaim their voice, and build ventures rooted in purpose and soul. Whether I’m mentoring future care home owners, speaking on sacred leadership, or simply holding space for the divine feminine to rise, my work is always about returning people to what matters most: love, connection, and alignment.
Right now, we’re in a thrilling stage: we’ve secured our home for The Vibe, are breaking ground soon, and are preparing to open our doors. Every conversation, partnership, and step forward is infused with intention and community. I believe the future of elder care is guided by feminine energy, life-affirming, and wildly alive. I’m honored to help lead that movement.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are:
1. Resourcefulness and Curiosity
I’ve always asked questions- a lot of them. I believe in using what’s around me, whether that’s mentors, books, community, or simple observation. Staying curious has kept me open, adaptable, and continually growing. For anyone starting out, don’t be afraid to ask. Listen more than you speak. Learn from everyone, especially those who’ve walked paths different from yours.
2. Integrity and Core Values
Your values are your compass. In every season of building, leading, or pivoting, staying rooted in what matters most to me has helped me make aligned decisions, even when they were hard. Early on, take time to define what success means to you and build from that truth. What feels good in your body and your spirit? Follow that.
3. Embodied Leadership
Building something meaningful isn’t just a head game- it’s also heart and (womb) work. I had to learn that I can’t pour from an empty cup. Prioritizing my health, practicing emotional intelligence, and creating rituals to manage stress without numbing out have been essential. My advice? Nourish yourself. Develop habits that ground you. Leadership isn’t sustainable if it costs you your well-being.
At the end of the day, we are the soil from which our work grows. The deeper our roots, the more expansive our reach.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?
If I knew I had only a decade left, I would live it as ceremony.
I would spend more time barefoot in the garden, hands in the dirt, harvesting herbs and flowers for tea and prayer. I’d open homes that felt like sanctuaries, where elders are honored, humans are seen, and people feel safe to unravel and remember who they are.
I would write more. Speak more. Sing more with my sweetheart under the stars. I’d host slow dinners with soulful people, hold circle with women reclaiming their cycles, and laugh loudly with my sons around bonfires that carry our stories to the sky.
I’d make peace with all the past versions of me and fully embody the woman I was always becoming.
I would travel to sacred places and also stay home, because I have never loved traveling and I know the holy is in both. I would keep disrupting elder care and teaching that leadership is sacred work. I’d pour every bit of love, creativity, and wisdom into what I leave behind- not just buildings or businesses, but the energy inside them.
And I’d say yes. To life. To rest. To connection. I would keep choosing what is real and beautiful, every single day.
