We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Heather Plant a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Heather, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
This is a question I truly love because it’s so deeply aligned with who I am.
Finding my purpose was the main thing that was always on the forefront of my mind since I was really young, well that and finding a partner who loved and cherished me as much as I did them.
Surprisingly, the love part came fairly soon, although there were quite a few painful hiccups before finding them. But discovering my purpose felt more elusive, especially since I’ve always been multi-passionate, and pulled in so many different directions by a deep curiosity and love for learning.
From a very young age, two powerful forces have always driven me, the need and desire to feel better and a deep drive to always listen to my intuition. I struggled with numerous health issues throughout my childhood including anxiety, digestive problems, and reproductive health concerns, and despite many doctor visits, no one could ever find out what was “wrong” with me. I learned early on that I had to take my health into my own hands. Modern medicine didn’t have the answers, so I immersed myself in the world of holistic healing and spiritual influences on the body.
In my teens and early 20s, I dove deeply into alternative wellness practices, learning everything I could about how to heal the body naturally and how our emotional and spiritual health impacts our physical well-being. I felt better and was hooked, but I still didn’t know my purpose.
One thing has always remained constant, though: I’ve had an intuitive connection with the natural world for as long as I can remember. It has guided me through countless life challenges, including a period of immense stress after years of pent-up trauma left me physically and emotionally depleted. Once again, I found myself facing a new set of health issues that consumed my life, and, as before, modern medicine didn’t have the solutions I needed. I was at one of the lowest points of my life and I just wanted to be able to live life fully again.
It was during this time that I remembered my early fascination with plant medicine so I sought out an herbalist (someone who uses plants as medicine). I can still remember the moment clearly to this day. I remember walking out of the office with a bag full of dried flowers and leaves to be used to make tea. In that moment it felt as if the world stopped, and everything came together. I fell in love, for the second time in my life, but this time it wasn’t with a human, but with the plants. And in that same moment, I realized, my purpose had been with me all along.
It was in my name. Heather, my first name, a flower. And Plant, my last name, from marrying my first love. The connection was so clear that I felt it in my bones. My purpose is to help others feel empowered over their health and be able to heal through nature’s medicine, the very plants that had always been calling me.
For the past two decades, I’ve dedicated my life to helping others restore balance to their health through plant medicine and holistic wellness. My personal experiences with chronic illness and stress, along with my deep intuitive connection to the natural world, have shaped my path as both an herbalist, wellness strategist, and earth medicine teacher. Now, I help others feel empowered over their health by blending plant medicine, stress management, and the magic of nature, so they can heal their body and spirit and experience the awe of nature’s medicine right at their fingertips.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a clinical herbalist and holistic wellness strategist and I’m the owner of Magical Plants, an online wellness center located in Massachusetts. In my business, I specialize in helping women lower stress, reclaim their health, and infuse magic into their everyday lives. My work is rooted in the belief that knowing how to heal oneself is deeply empowering, but at the same time, healing isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach. We are all unique and deserve to be heard and this is heavily intertwined with the work I do with clients, something that is often neglected in the world of wellness.
I’ve dedicated over two decades to understanding how the natural world, particularly plant medicine, can help us live healthier, more balanced lives, and I’m honored to be able to help others reclaim their health as well. What’s most exciting about what I do is the transformation I see in the women I work with. Many come to me feeling alone, unseen, overwhelmed, and powerless in their health journeys. I help them tap into the healing power of plants and nature as well as their own inner strength. I teach them how to manage their stress and anxiety in holistic, sustainable ways, and ultimately feel in control of their health, often for the first time in their lives.
What is unique about my wellness practice is it’s not only about combining plant medicine with simple and practical strategies as there is also a large intuitive aspect to my work. I focus on each person’s individual needs and where they are at so for some, they just need coaching around easy ways to manage stress, and for others, they may need support around connecting more with their spiritual side. I love to weave magic into my practice, to help deepen one’s connection to the Earth and their intuition. Whether it’s through rituals tied to the lunar cycle, or simply teaching women to listen to their bodies and the rhythms of nature, I focus on guiding my clients and students toward a life that feels both grounded and full of wonder. What I do is so much more than just herbal remedies- it’s a full-spectrum approach that empowers women to take control of their well-being, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually, as I believe you need all four to truly feel well.
I turned my love of writing and creating journeys of real health transformation into online digital offerings and programs that guide someone step by step to feeling better and more alive in easily accessible ways. My main program is called The Calming Toolkit, which helps one manage stress and reduce fear and anxiety through specific tools (and plant medicine) that naturally help us feel calmer in life, no matter how chaotic life can get. I also have a program called Moon Magic Club designed to help infuse blissful magic into one’s daily life. There are several other courses and digital products as well all designed to help one ultimately feel happier and healthier, more in tune with the natural world, and of course, know how to use plant medicine. I also run free events and many of my offerings are very low-cost as I try to make wellness not only easy but affordable for everyone.
I also work with clients privately 1:1 and run a medicinal herb farm where I stock my apothecary with herbs I grow to use in herbal formulas for clients, and occasionally make herbal products available to the public as well.
I do have a new side tangent I’m diving into in my business as I’ve also started working more with new online business owners lately and really have enjoyed helping them get through the weeds of getting started. So I have a few offerings in the works to begin incorporating more space to continue doing that further as well.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
The three most important skills that were the most impactful in my journey have been learning how to be more resilient to stress, knowing how to listen to my intuition, and my ability to see things from multiple lenses.
Stress is something we all experience, and for good reason with all the chaos within the world. But stress is sadly also the biggest hindrance to how we experience life. The first half of my life I spent trying to push through stress, trying to ignore it as I still needed to tackle my endless to-do lists. However, that only led to one ailment and symptom after another, leaving me feeling like my life had lost its meaning.
Now that I know exactly how to manage stress and how to build a stronger resilience to it so it doesn’t impact me as it otherwise would, my life has completely changed for the better. There’s a freedom that exists when you can live life without the constant bombardment of stress and the devastating toll of its impact. Having the ability to manage stress, especially as a business owner, has allowed me to do what I do to help others with their health and create change not just for myself, but more importantly, to see the change in other’s lives as well.
Knowing how to listen to my intention is another highly impactful skill in my life as it’s allowed me to grow and experience life with such a deeper meaning. It’s a tool we all have access to, we’re just not usually shown how to connect with it or use it. But once you know how it’s like having a guide steering you through life in a direction that truly brings you meaning, and without it, we can feel like we’re tossed around like a leaf by the winds of life.
That leads me to my other important skill which is seeing through lenses. Life can be uncomfortable and toss a lot at us, and very easily one can only see the negative things that are in their way. I learned very early on the importance of taking a wide-angle view of a situation to see things from multiple perspectives. This has allowed me to often see things I would otherwise miss or take for granted. Even when I work with clients I infuse this approach into my work as I look at health from various lenses of seeing. I pull on different healing traditions and how they see the body as a whole, as well as how I intuitively see someone’s “issues,” and this allows me to really see the full picture of what would help someone in the easiest way possible.
For those who are early in their journey of wellness and/or listening to their intuition, my advice would be to start by just taking a step back. Try your best to let go of any judgments and the harsh inner critic that we all tend to have, and look at your life as if you were a bird flying high in the sky. See what you notice, what you see, and even more importantly, what you don’t see. This tactic can be used not only as a great way to begin tackling any health challenge but also to truly begin developing your intuition as you’re starting to listen and pay attention to the most important person in your journey… you!

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
Yes! I love collaborating with other business owners. Running a business is never easy doing it yourself and is so much easier when you have people within your community you can reach out to in order to connect, grow, and expand.
In the past, I have put on events where I collaborate with other entrepreneurs to bring value to my audience and at the same time help other business owners grow their own business as well. I’m always looking for new businesses to collaborate with, especially those in the wellness and spiritual space, those who help moms, and those who help newer businesses. I’m planning to run quite a few more collaboration events over the next few months from bundles, summits, affiliate events and sponsorships to name a few.
