Meet Heather Savonne

We were lucky to catch up with Heather Savonne recently and have shared our conversation below.

Heather, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Ever since I was a little girl, I loved music and singing. You could say Disney classics had a chokehold on me and I dreamed of one day being a Disney princess (like every other little girl). As I grew older, creativity sparked within me as I began to write poems, stories, screen plays, and more! I begged my dad to buy me a piano and finally he did. It was a $250 baby grand that was from a garage sale and out of tune, but it was magical to me. I taught myself some piano chords from youtube and felt on top of the world now that I could play the music that I always listened to and I could play it the way that I wanted and desired. I continued to long after the arts like painting, drawing, dancing, singing, and even secretly practicing acting in my bedroom. I was so shy and insecure, how were these big audacious dream going to come true if no one even knew I could sing? Seriously, many of my family members and friends had no idea I could sing, act, or dance because I was so timid. Plus, the arts weren’t taken very seriously in my family, no one had ever made a career out of being creative…or they had no tried. I pulled inspiration from self-made people like Oprah. Ultimately, when I discovered God at 18 years old, it changed everything and my purpose in singing became not for man but for God. Through accepting Jesus Christ and becoming a Christian, it was then that my purpose was sealed. Yes, I was still to sing…but with more passion, more intention, and way more purpose than before. And here I am today at 28 years old doing just that. I released my first ever solo Christian album called “Found In You” and it is available on all streaming platforms.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a Christian singer/songwriter, worship leader, and content creator currently in Houston. Texas. On 06.17.23 I released my debut solo Christian album titled “Found In You” that has nine beautiful songs on it that were all written by me. It is now available on all streaming platforms like Youtube, Spotify, Pandora, IG, TikTok, and Apple Music. I encourage you to listen and let God minister to your heart as you intentionally seek Him. I would love for people to add their favorite song to a playlist that they have. This is how the music is boosted within these music platforms and recommended to others.

My faith is the hugest thing in my life and where I find my true purpose. I also have an instagram faith based page for women of all ages called @WithHeartBlog where I post daily scriptures and encouragement.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Adaptability, resilience, and looking forward to the future are the most impactful qualities that have carried me this far. Life is always changing and the more you embrace change the better the experience of change will be. I’m someone who didn’t have a stable, safe, and secure upbringing so change has always triggered and effected my for the worse. I had to unlearn/relearn a lot of trauma responses due to my upbringing. I carry a lot more PEACE in the changing seasons and circumstances now, knowing that they’re for a reason too. Which brings me into the second word, resilience. Like I mentioned my childhood and even adult years have been truly hard and a struggle filled with abuse, grief, mental health issues, loss, and more. To make it through on the other side of those things took never giving up and resilience to fight through life’s battles. Last but not least, looking to the future. I’ve always been a dreamer, I’ve always knew there was more to life than whatever I was facing. dreaming literally helped me temporarily escape my circumstances and brought hope for a future. Which now I know is sealed in Jesus, my Savior. One of my favorite scriptures is a very well known one, Jeremiah 29:11 that says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, not plans of destruction or harm, but for a hope and a future.”

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
Life is life and there will be times of great joy and laughter. We must also be aware that there will be times of us getting overwhelmed by good things or bad things. Our minds and bodies can only take so much! It’s important for people to know that the things of this world will not always bring the comfort they truly need and long for. A house, a spouse, money, children are all good things but there is only one that can truly comfort which is Almighty God. God is powerful but He is also sweet and good. Let Him comfort you today in your stress. One of my favorite scriptures is Psalm 61:2 which says, “From the end of the earth I call unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me, O God, to the Rock that is higher than I.”

Check out my new song, “Comforter”. It’s a sweet reminder that God hears you and is always there for you.
