We were lucky to catch up with Heather Schultz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Heather, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
Simple answer: Believing there has to be better.
Longer answer: I’m certainly not the only one. We’ve all faced adversities in life. I will even be the first to admit that I know that there are others who have experienced greater setbacks and challenges than I have. I know I am blessed and fortunate in many ways, in which I’m very grateful for. But typically, we’ve all been through something. We all have a story to share. But I know that I know that I know what goes up, must come down. Rainy days eventually clear and the sun finally shines again. Things can be bad sometimes, really bad. But what keeps me going is knowing that does not last forever. There are always better and brighter days ahead. It’s important not to lose sight of that vision in the thick of a dark time. Remembering what I do have, keeping that attitude of gratitude in having a thankful heart is a good reminder that there will be more happy things to be thankful for. If it’s happened in the past, it will happen again in the future. I don’t deny that this is hard to do when you’re struggling, grieving, and confused. But mind over matter does make a difference and keeping our thoughts in check, aligning our beliefs with what we truly want does go a long way.
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I do intuitive tarot and oracle card readings for both the collective and individuals interested in their own personal growth and development spiritually. Collective readings are available for the public openly across my social accounts on YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. This a great way for people who don’t me to get to know me. Every reader has their own unique style in way of communicating their messages. Not every reader is going to be for every person. It’s valuable to have that resonance. So if someone does connect to me as a reader in any of my collective public readings they are always welcome to follow me and possibly decide to book a session with me privately in the future. Personal readings for individuals are available on my website. There’s a whole array and span of different types of readings from image readings, to YouTube unlisted readings, to a live reading with me over Zoom. The different options are also good in the sense that it caters to a variety of budget options for clients. My hope is in any of these individual private sessions I can assist the client with their personal questions and help them find ways to ultimately feel uplifted, encouraged, and inspired coming out of a session. Recently I have discovered a lot of clients would like to learn how to read tarot for themselves. I’m definitely a big believer in education of all kinds, including spiritual education. So I may be looking into launching a learn how to read tarot online course in 2024.
In October I launched a Patreon. My goal in the Patreon is to create a community where people can connect with other like hearted people and do life together. In these economically challenging times I realize not everyone can afford their own personal reading, and that’s totally ok. The great thing about becoming a Patreon member is members receive collective readings (within the Patreon, not publicly, so the group is much smaller, therefore much more specific). Collective card pulls come both weekly and daily, depending on the tier level. The highest tier levels on Patreon also can participate in live readings only for Patreons where they can have their questions answered directly. Tier levels $5.55 a month and up gain access to the private Discord server for community connection, but people are free to join even as low as $1.11 a month, so just about anyone on any budget will feel welcome and can receive the benefits of my Patreon’s community. The really cool thing about being a monthly subscriber on Patreon is for a very low rate you get receive consistency in so incredibly much.
I also create my own oracle decks. As someone who is inspired by spirit and creativity making my own oracle decks has been a wonderful way to communicate and express my messages in my own unique way with flair! I currently have three oracle decks available for purchase on my website. They are all easy to understand in terms of interpretation. None of them come with guide books, however there are walk-thru videos featuring each deck and the meanings of all the cards on my YouTube channel. These decks make fun and unique additions for anyone’s deck collection whether you are newbie reader or seasoned and experienced. Each deck is perfect for doing readings on yourself, doing readings for your friends, or doing readings for your own clients if you are as well, a fellow reader. The first deck is Written in the Stars – messages in life and love with a pop culture twist. The second deck is Fallin’ For You! – my autumn themed oracle deck. And the third and newest deck, just released on 11/11/23 is A Magical Christmas – a holiday themed oracle deck, perfect for all of your readings this holiday season! It also makes a great Christmas present for any of your astrology, crystal loving, spiritual friends.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
This is a great question! In a way I recently asked myself this and I even polled my followers what types of readings they were most interested in. Truthfully the best way I can help people is coming from a place of experience and relatability myself. The first area I have experience in helping others is their love or twin flame journeys. Sometimes I wish I didn’t have experience in this area because the twin flame journey is not for the faint of heart, but given the fact that I myself have known my own twin flame since I was 14 years old, I know a little bit about the circus that comes with those kinds of relationships. I am not someone in union with their twin flame, but I am able to live my best life even without that person in my life. If someone comes to me seeking guidance on their own twin flame journey my goal is to help them do the same, whether their happily ever after involves their person or not – they are totally capable of embracing it.
Another area I feel I thrive in, which may sound so incredibly simple and basic, is encouragement, empathy, and support. No matter what type of reading or session I have with someone I always want to make sure it has the stamp of hope on it. Again, this is rooted in my own personal experiences. I have been on the other side as a client and I have been in reading sessions with other readers, who have done readings for me, and there have been times I have come out of those sessions feeling worse about myself than I did originally going into the reading! No client should ever be left feeling like that, and I know I’m not the only person who has had negative experiences like that. That’s not to say in a session uncomfortable topics may not come up or that we shouldn’t work through things we need to work on. But we should always feel uplifted and inspired to so coming out of a reading, not depleted and defeated. My hope is that a client comes out of a session feeling better than they came into it feeling a little lighter and brighter about their life and where it’s headed. I feel strongly that more readers need to tap into that cheerleader type of energy rather than anything fear driven.
Finally, being creative. Long before I was ever a tarot reader I was a singer and songwriter. I’ve always been a creative person. I’ve always had to think outside of the box to make things work. This creativity comes across in the oracle decks I make and even how I run my business as whole. Nothing in life is ever permanent. The only thing in life you can count on indefinitely is change, so the need to be adaptable is important. Being creative helps with that because sometimes things in my business work well, sometimes they don’t, and either way that leads me back to the drawing board to come up with new and innovative ways to connect with others. Being creative is not only the way to stand out, but also the road to true authenticity.
For anyone who is interested in going into the spirituality business of helping others, that’s the first and foremost important key – is having empathy and the desire to truly help others. I would say look at your own life and experiences. Usually the path to helping others comes from things you yourself have been through. It’s through your own experiences you feel relatability with others. You’re most likely further down the road on your own journey than you realize, so there will always be someone coming up behind you that you can help get a leg up on. Be yourself, be true, be authentic, follow what sets your heart a blaze, and by doing that you will find your own unique imprint on helping others.
What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
Myself. I’m my biggest obstacle. This is truly something that will always be an obstacle for me, as imagine it would be for anyone. As they say we are own worst enemy or worst critic. There’s loads of truth in that. I’m not saying situations and circumstances don’t get me down at times. But my mindset has a bigger impact than those things do. I can’t control external conditions or what other people do, but I always can control my reactions and how I handle things. If my mindset has strongholds of negativity, self sabotage, limiting beliefs, doubt, fear, etc that will not serve me. In moments where I feel myself slip into those thoughts I have to ground myself, clear the mess in my mind, and get realigned with my focus. I have to love myself ultimately like I would a close friend, be kind to myself, remember I am valuable, and step forward again with a positive outlook. This doesn’t mean false positivity either. It’s totally ok to be real about the challenges ahead. But it’s important to stay solution oriented rather than problem focused.
