Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Heather Wilson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Heather, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
I found my purpose by walking the path of dissolving intergenerational, colonial patterns on both sides of my multiracial family and becoming a responsible steward of my ancestral wisdom and spiritual, indigenous traditions. My purpose is to support and empower other female-bodied “cycle-breakers” to alchemize deep ancestral wounds (codependency, enmeshment, toxic shame, sexual trauma, etc.) into creative potential and shifts to higher consciousness with the help of astrology and pleasure as transformative medicine. My maternal ancestors are from the Visayan islands of Leyte, Samar, and Panay, in what is now known as the Philippines. My paternal ancestors are from all over West Africa, but primarily Nigeria and Ghana, and the British Isles of Northern Europe.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Right now I am focused on growing my monthly membership, the “Astro-Ancestral Healing Collective”. Inspired by my own decolonizing journey of dissolving internalized oppression, I created this sacred space to support and empower other female-bodied “cycle-breakers” seeking to alchemize deep ancestral wounds into creative potential and shifts to higher consciousness with the help of astrology and pleasure as medicine. There are many perks to the membership, but the key pieces are that we gather once a month near or on the new moon for a LIVE group pleasure practice and dance party. We also gather once a month with a different guest expert, specializing in various holistic healing modalities, who leads a LIVE interactive group workshop. I know, from embodied experience, that spiritual bypassing our relationship with our bodies and sexuality is NOT an option on an ancestral healing journey. So, it was important for me for hold a safe, non-judgmental, and loving space for doing just that.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
1. Know that you – your energetic presence, your original essence, unfiltered – are enough. 2. Don’t give into the need to be liked, understood, or palatable to everyone. Be proud of who you are and what you bring to the table. The people you are meant to serve in this life need you to be you. Otherwise, you just blend into the crowd and they can’t find you.
3. Pay close attention to the tasks/activities that give you energy and the ones that drain you. Do as much a you can to build your business around what fulfills you and lights you up and outsource what doesn’t. This, of course, is a learning process that takes time and patience. My best advice is to lean into and be curious about it, rather than use it as an opportunity to beat yourself up. Also, done is better than perfect.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My ideal client is a female-bodied being who is ready to say “yes” to embarking upon an ancestral healing journey. They are sick and tired of toxic, ancestral patterns (codependency, enmeshment, toxic shame, sexual trauma, etc.) pouring from one generation into the next, and are committed to be the one who breaks the cycle(s). They are interested in astrology and understand that lasting, authentic healing happens when we transform on all levels of our being – mental, emotional, spiritual, and physical. They are courageous, open-minded, and determined to create a new reality for themselves on a nervous system level.
