We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Heathir Brown. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Heathir below.
Hi Heathir , thanks for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re very focused on here – improving our ability to make decisions. Everyday, we’re faced with decisions that can impact the future of our careers, businesses, relationships and more and so one of the most impactful areas for personal development, in our view, is decision-making. Can you talk to us about how you developed or improved your decision-making skills?
In the past I was terrible at making decisions. I would flip flop and end up asking everyone around me what they thought I should do because I didn’t know how to connect to what I actually wanted. Once I realized that the best decisions do not come from my head, but from my inner wisdom I learned how to tune in and that completely changed everything.
The inner wisdom is the part of us that has always been connected to the Divine. It doesn’t hold on to ancestral or societal conditioning or limiting beliefs. Connecting to our inner wisdom allows us to choose things that are truly aligned with our soul. Learning how to listen to inner wisdom can be a little different for each person. According to human design, people have different authority types that allow us to tap in to our inner wisdom.
For example, In human design, my type is a Sacral Generator. Generators are meant to respond to things, so it helps me a lot if I have some options in front of me to respond to rather than coming up with a list of options myself. Once I have the options, I tune into my sacral, you might also call that the “gut feeling.”
The sacral will respond with a “yes” or a “no.” For me it’s more of a physical feeling of expansion, or contraction. If you want know what your “yes” and “no” feel like then my suggestion is to think of something that is absolutely true and say it out loud. For example, “I love my cat” or “I live in Los Angeles.” It doesn’t matter what it is, as long as it’s true. When you say that statement out loud, notice what your body feels like. Next, take a few breaths and come back to a neutral state, and then say a statement that is absolutely false and see what that feels like. This exercise will let you begin to listen to your own inner wisdom.
Once you get used to that feeling it can become really clear when you try to make decisions. I suggest starting with small decisions, like what to eat, or which way to go for a walk. Once you get a good sense of the feeling you can move on to bigger decisions. For me this has helped me make soul aligned decisions in every part of my life.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
I nurture empaths and highly sensitive people so they can turn chaotic energy, stress, and pain into fuel for personal transformation. I believe that healing can be easy and even fun, no matter how ancient or heavy the burden is. I use craniosacral, reiki, sound, and the newest part of my practice has been the addition of channeling energy from Spirit.
Just as I sense guidance from my client’s “inner wisdom,” if the issue they are holding is from inter-generational trauma, I might get a nudge from one of their ancestors. If the client feels stuck or blocked, I may notice their spirit guide showing up to help support the session. My favorite thing is when I sense a bright light, slow pulsing energy, and a quickening in my heart, and a light ringing in my ears as angel energy enters the session.
I am enjoying weaving this into my practice while continuing to follow my client’s inner wisdom throughout each session, Supporting their journey from an unbiased and agenda free space. The connections that I make to Spirit are filled with love, light and encouragement. Your team in the spirit world is rooting for you! They are with you always, whether you feel them or not.
As I have been opening my awareness, my practice has been filled with sessions that include connections with loved ones, ancestral lineage healing, past life healing, soul parts retrieval, inner child healing, and more!
My favorite memory is one when the spirit of my client’s grandfather showed up, and merged his energy with my left hand. He guided it to her heart and began releasing stored ancestral trauma, with the message of “this is not your burden to carry.” It was a beautiful moment and a pivotal point in my client’s healing journey as generations of pain and suffering lifted from her heart that day.
This work amazes me every day! It has been absolutely wonderful to witness deep healing in my clients on so many levels. I love being able to be in this space and find that with this supportive energy, transformation and healing happens so much more easily.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I mention this one a lot, but the body scan meditation is so important for people who are highly sensitive and empathic like myself. We can take in so much emotional and energetic information without realizing it. If you take a moment each day to scan your body and notice how. you are feeling before you go out into the world you will start to notice when you begin taking on things that are not your own. The next skill was learning how to release or transform the energy and emotions of others so that I didn’t store them. There are lots of methods for clearing, I have guided meditations on my Youtube channel and you can also ask your guides and angels to help you clear with a simple request, “please clear anything that is not mine or is not helpful.”
Finally, learning that we all have the ability to expand and contract our biofield/aura/energy so that we do not take in as many things that do not belong to us. This can be especially helpful when traveling in a busy airport, or even shopping at the store. There are meditations that can assist you in learning to do this. If you would like to try it, I have one in my podcast, “The Empath Playground” episode 5.
The theme of all of these skills is energetic authority. We do not have to hold onto the burdens of others in order to deeply care or show up for people. We may feel it, but it doesn’t mean we need to store a copy of their suffering in our cells.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents raised me living off the grid, home schooled in the forest of Upstate New York. We didn’t have the distractions of television, or even electricity for that matter. From this state of disconnect with the human world, my connection to the world of spirit and nature expanded.
My days were spent exploring the forest, gazing at the stream, sitting on rocks and listening to the subtle whispers of the universe. I believe that the ease in which I am able to connect with intuitive information from my clients and their spirit teams comes from my early years in the woods as well as how my parents always took me serious when I had subtle information come through.
There was one time when I was very small and my sister was living with her mother. I told my mom that I could hear my sister crying. She was forty miles away, but instead of brushing me off, or telling me it was impossible, my father headed to a neighbor’s house to use their phone and call my sister, only to find out that she was indeed crying. I often hear stories from my client’s about the times they were not believed or listened to by their parents and see how that carries forward into blocks and limiting beliefs. Because my parents believed me, I was able to grow my abilities by leaning into them rather than shutting them down. I am so grateful for that and for how much they love and support me in every step of my development as an intuitive healer.
