Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Helen Creegan-Walsh. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Helen, first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
I overcame imposter syndrome by deciding I was not an imposter anymore!
Our current results that we are experiencing are the based on our past thinking.
When I realised this, I was no longer allowing my results. to define me.
How I achieved top income and top results over the last 10 years in my business was focussing on the activity and attitude of the person that has already achieved all they want-hence no imposter!
This has been a game changer for me. When outside factors could have influenced me -ie I have no network, I am new to the business, etc instead I focussed on what I wanted and where I was going. I took action and based my success on the action I took, not the end results. The end results took care of themselves based on the action I took.
I said to myself, I am a fill in the blank, for example , a fantastic salesperson and talk to 5 people a day about what I do and how I can help them. I act as if I am already that.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
My story is one that stretches across continents, across disciplines and through all the trials and tribulations has brought me to an even better state of awareness which continues to grow.
I moved to the UK in 1998 when I was made redundant from Dean Witter (which is now Morgan Stanley.) I had previously worked on the 60th Floor in 2 World Trade, which was know as the North Tower when it fell. Like everyone, I remember where I was on September 11, 2001. I was working for Goodbody Stockbrokers in Dublin, headhunted for my Tech background. That was short lived and fast forward my first business was born in 2003.
I started the 3rd Franchise of Curves in Ireland, in Waterford where my husband had grown up. One of my great friends had met a woman on a plane and they spoke about this business coming to Ireland. By 2005, we had 4 Curves Franchises in the SouthEast of Ireland and I had 2 babies. My sister-in-law my business partner had 1 child at this time too. My will and drive far outweighed my self-awareness and the lessons I learned in those nearly 10 years could fill a book on its own.
I was so proud of many things in that business but also very ashamed of many others. I loved working – it was my passion and again shortly after I was introduced to what is now my thriving Financial Services Business.
Many thought I would fail – including myself as my self-belief had hit an all time low and after 12months I was offered a support role – I thought this was a promotion – little did I know that this was actually a sign that I was just not cutting it.
I was recommended by a great friend to look at Thinking Into Results – a Leadership, results driven coaching programme.
Within 6 months I had nearly doubled my income (honeslty this was not very hard given where I had started from.). Years on I have invested in my self 10 fold.
It has lead to a great income for my family, trips and experiences that I had never thought possible. I also have enriched and deepened my relationships with my family and colleagues. I have also learned to earn more doing less physical work.
In May of 2021 , How to Create Wealth Coaching was born. I took the leap to become a Thinking Into Results Consultant myself as I want more people to experience what I have.
The road has been slightly rocky as I succumbed to what others think, worrying about judgement form them about my doing both businesses at once.
I love my Financial Advisory Business and I will say I am great at it. There is still a passion, a purpose that draws me to helping others do the same – have a great income on their own time.
My mom always said I would make a great nurse, (not). Maybe this is my service side coming out.
Stay tuned.
I am launching my next Signature 6 month Coaching Programme, 25th of November. Drop me an email if you would like to book a 30minute Free Consultation: [email protected]

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The 3 qualitied and skills that were most impactful in my journey are:
1. To say when I am wrong, to own it and to become better
2. To realise that awareness is the most important aspect of life – to live better you need to be more aware
3. if you are not doing what you want to do find someone who has done what you have and follow them to the letter.
4. Your family know you the best if you are no in synch with your famlily – correct it and all will begin to flow.
My advice to you if you are int the early stage of your journey is to not be afraid to ask questions – tons of them – at every turn.
Also, to be still and ask yourself , what is important , what do you want?
You will never hear that if you are constantly on the wheel of work and life.
Take out time to be still and listen and Trust that it is all working out for you.
As I said to one of my clients; ‘ How would you know if you are experiencing the Good if you have not Experienced the Bad?

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
The most impactful thing that my parents did for me is to say I could do or be whatever I wanted. When I started my first Curves Business, left a great career and studying for my Master’s at Smurfit Business School in Dublin, she said ‘ What is the worst that can happen? You go back to what you were doing?’ there was always support there.
Even when I moved to London and got a job before my husband and I got married, I recall so clearly my dad saying ‘ You can always come home’ that was so reassuring to me. Even when I spent my first Thanksgiving eating spaghetti in London bawling my eyes out – they also taught me not to give up. Instead they came to visit me soon after and we all had a wonderful time in my flat in Kensington.
Never give up, always know they have your back and to take risk. I hope I have shared these with my boys.
