We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Herman Wibowo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Herman below.
Herman, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
From my childhood live and all the hardships I had when I was younger. Never gave up and always find a way to survive
Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’ve been tattooing for almost 17 years now, but I actually started my career as a body piercing artist in 2003 and tattooing on the side. Over time, I found more joy and fulfillment in tattooing, which led me to pursue it full-time in 2008z What excites me most about my job is the opportunity to meet so many different people from various backgrounds. We spend a lot of time together, which allows me to learn about their personalities, what they do, and what truly defines them. It’s incredibly rewarding to bring their visions to life, especially because many of my clients see tattooing as a form of therapy. For some, it’s a way to process experiences and heal.
I’ve always had an interest in art and studied visual communication art and graphic design over 20 years ago. But my passion for art goes beyond just tattooing, so I’m currently expanding my artistic knowledge by studying under the guidance of my mentor, Edgar Marquez.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Hard work, persistence, and dedication are the key qualities that will help you succeed. Stay hungry for growth and always strive for more. My advice is simple: keep working hard and never give up on your dreams. Even during the tough times, continue putting in the effort. If you stay committed, one day all your hard work will pay off.
To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?
They support and love me unconditionally, offering their encouragement in every way possible. This allows me to pursue my dreams without being weighed down by unnecessary worries.
