We were lucky to catch up with Hillary Hawkins recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hillary, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive by constantly creating! “Actors Anonymous Hotline” is a comedy-drama series I created that I get to work on everyday in one capacity or another. My many hats include Creator, Showrunner, Screenwriter, Director, Casting Director, Producer, Editor, Music Supervisor, Songwriter and lead actress! Playing the part of Sunny Love is so much fun and working with such a talented team of actors also helps keep the creativity alive! These characters, they just pop into my head and start talking! LOL That’s my cue to write! Also, getting good sleep at night also helps keep the creativity alive as God frequently blesses me with highly vivid dreams. That’s when my imagination runs wild!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am a creator, actress, screenwriter and producer currently focusing my energy on creating and producing meaningful episodes of “Actors Anonymous Hotline.”
What’s special about “Actors Anonymous Hotline” is that it’s a unique mix of fiction and non-fiction. Would you like to know who these juicy stories are about? I’m sorry but the actor’s name must remain anonymous. 🙂
We recently launched a new YouTube channel so while Season 1 can still currently be viewed at www.YouTube.com/HillAHawk, folks interested in watching Season 2 (which gets more into Sunny Love’s personal journey) should head on over to the new channel: www.YouTube.com/@ActorsAnonymousHotline
I hope this series with its international cast of actors helps people all around the world to open up, heal, love and have a sunny day.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Creativity, love and diversity are the three areas that have been most impactful on my journey.
Creativity is so key because there came a point in my journey where it seemed like no doors would open, but it is my ability to create that finally opened a door. After a highly successful career as a child actor (I worked with Nickelodeon, Disney and more) it wasn’t until I started my own production company Hillary Hawkins Production LLC that I was finally able to act and sing on TV again. My original creations have aired on networks such as the CW, ABC, NBC, CBS and FOX, to name a few. Glory to God! Special thanks BadamiTV.
Diversity has been key because it is my ability to speak in a wide variety of accents and even languages that keeps me working as a voice actor and I love it. Visit www.hillaryhawkins.com/accents for samples of my voice and reach out if I may ever be of service.
Last but not least is love. It is my love for the performing arts that led me to become a child actor. Most people remember me as Kate from Nickelodeon’s “Are You Afraid of the Dark?” Mom flew with me to Los Angeles for the audition and then out to Canada to work on the TV show. She also took me around on countless auditions, callbacks, bookings, voice lessons, acting lessons and more. It is my parents’ love for me that led them to provide me with the highest caliber of training for a successful career in the arts and entertainment industry. Because my mom loves me, she spent so much time on me and went above and beyond to help me pursue my dreams. I will always love her and be forever grateful.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to share my three areas of knowledge with Bold Journey Magazine! 🙂 Creativity, diversity and love. <3 My best advice to cultivate creativity would be plain and simple to create! It doesn’t matter what it is, just start creating. Draw a picture, write a poem, jot down a dream, create! To stimulate diversity, if you happen to be fortunate enough to be raised in a household where many different authentic accents are spoken like I was, soak them up like a sponge! If you don’t have a mix of cultures in your home, it’s okay, go to school and study abroad! I would like to encourage you to pick up a second or third language if you can. Speaking in a variety of languages is fun and can open really cool doors both personally and professionally. Take a class and make friends with people of all different cultures, and like the name of my very first album, Let’s Imagine a World of Love! For more motivation in the Love arena, check out my other albums Love Lessons 101, Love Lessons 102 and Sweet Dreams on Apple Music, Amazon Music, Pandora, iHeart etc.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
I create and pray. Creating can be very cathartic and prayer works. I believe God hears our prayers and when we become quiet enough we can hear from our Heavenly Father regarding what to do, and where to focus our energy and we can also rest in Him. My advice would be to remember to breathe, find a creative outlet and don’t be afraid to shut the rest of the world out when you need to and go within… It may take some getting used to but there is immense peace in the silence. Wishing you much peace, blessings and love.
