Meet Hoda Hakimjavadi

We were lucky to catch up with Hoda Hakimjavadi recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hoda, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I have spend a great deal of time and continue to put effort into learning in my field. The more I educate myself and learn the more I have been able to build the confidence to provide my patients with the care they need. As I see their progress in following my nutrition recommendation it has given me more self-esteem in what I do. It all starts with me putting the work in.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am a clinical dietitian at UCLA-Ronald Reagan hospital, I work with patients that have been hospitalized for a variety of acute or chronic disease states requiring medical attention. As a dietitian my primary role is to address the patients nutrition needs through various forms depending on what health issues they may be dealing with at the time of their admission.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three qualities that helped me stay on this path is first and foremost my passion. I love helping others through nutrition, it is my driving force. Second, it’s my dedication, without it I don’t think much will get done. Lastly, I would say resilience. Going through years of schooling and training a great deal of resilience is required.
For those who are starting any new career path I would advise to make sure you LOVE it. That love will embody everything that life brings for you on that journey and it will never feel like work.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

They taught me to never give up on something I want and they always supported my decisions. This encouraged me to always work hard at something that I knew in my gut was meant for me. Knowing that I have their trust and support gave me even more encouragement to go after what I want.
