Meet Dr. Holleh Tajalli

We recently connected with Dr. Holleh Tajalli and have shared our conversation below.

Dr. Tajalli, thanks for taking the time to share your lessons with our community today. So, let’s jump right in – one of the most essential skills for unlocking our potential is self-discipline. Where does your self-discipline come from?

For me, self-discipline comes from having a vision of my future self. This “future self” is someone I aspire to be! Currently, I aspire to be a better friend, clinician, and employer, to be healthier, more loving, more involved in our community, to have a greater impact in Baltimore. None of these things can happen without the discipline to make small choices every day that move me towards my vision of my future, better self. I am a growth oriented person and want to grow personally and professionally. It takes a tremendous amount of discipline to grow, create impact, and improve ourselves and the communities around us.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I own Canton Smile Studio, a neighborhood boutique dental office! I opened the business 6 years ago and we are in the process of an expansion and renovation so that we can continue providing our neighbors with the most high tech, friendly, honest, and fun dental experience they’ve ever had.
Our expansion will be complete in late 2025 and we look forward to having a grand re-opening party in early 2026.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think that understanding the population of Canton was integral to our success. As someone who lives in this area and is actively involved in this community, I knew what I would want in a healthcare setting as a patient and I created it in this dental office. I wanted somewhere beautiful with highly skilled, kind, honest doctors, the best technology, and a fun staff who I knew would help me with my insurance. Knowing myself and my target market was absolutely impactful for the success of our office.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?

Currently our number one challenge is navigating the changing landscape of dental insurance. Insurance reimbursements are insultingly low and often times, insurance companies find reasons to deny or delay payment on even basic preventative care like cleanings, exams, and x-rays. We do our absolute best due diligence with these companies and with our patients to provide the most accurate estimates possible, and still the insurance companies will violate their contracts, deny payment, or try to dictate treatment. Patients have become very frustrated, and rightfully so!
