We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Honeliz Perales a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Honeliz, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?
Being a mom of two special needs kiddos, you learn to search from within to keep going. And in the past year, not only have I grown in my spiritual life but I’ve also realized how much more I’m capable of, from what I can handle to what I can do. In the last year we spent 4 months away from home, came back for 2 months and then were gone for 5 months. I felt displaced, I wasn’t able to work because I was my daughter’s caregiver while my husband was the sole provider for our family. Along with a toddler who needs constant supervision. But we made it work, we are stronger than ever and I’m so thankful that we have a solid
Foundation in Jesus and we can handle anything.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
My writing consists of praying, worship and sweet romance stories that will make you feel all the happy emotions. Some parts are fiction but others are based on experiences that my family has overcome. Several characters have characteristics that I see in my loved one.
I have two books out and my third one will be released in August.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Give yourself grace. Be patient not only with others but with yourself. The age old saying, if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again is so incredibly true. If God gives you an idea, He will give you the tools and resources to make it come to pass; but we have to remember it is on HIS time, not ours.
Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I’m looking for book influencers to pick up my book and tell me how they like it. I know book sales will come with time, but I would love to get my books out there and have people see how God has worked on my life and how He can work in theirs.
