Meet Hudson & Mason Boyce

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Hudson & Mason Boyce a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Hudson & Mason, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

We get our resilience from our family, our faith, and a lot of backyard lacrosse battles. We’re family. The Bible says that iron sharpens iron, and we keep each other sharp.

At our house in Kirkland, every day feels like a mini training camp. Our dad, Joshua, is always telling us, “Life is just like lacrosse, you’re going to get knocked down, but you get back up, and play the next play.” He learned that from his own life, and now it’s part of who we are. Our mom, Kelsey, is the heart of our team. She always reminds us that Jesus gave us our talents for a reason and that we should play with joy, not fear. She’s the one making pancakes before the tournaments, praying with us in the car, and telling us to have fun no matter what the scoreboard says.

There was this one game where everything seemed to go wrong. Our team was losing, it was raining sideways, and I (Hudson) had just gotten scored on. I felt like giving up. But then I heard Mason yell, “Let’s go, Huddy! Next play!” and I remembered what Dad always says. I shook it off, dug in, and on the very next possession, I caused a turnover. We battled all the way back, and even though we didn’t win, we felt like champions because we didn’t quit.

Our resilience comes from those moments—when faith, family, and fun all come together. Mom’s prayers, Dad’s words, and our own bond as brothers remind us that no loss or bad play can stop us from trying again. Like Mason always says, “God already loves us, so we play free.” That’s where our strength comes from.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

We’re Hudson and Mason Boyce, and we like to say that lacrosse is more than just a game for us—it’s our family’s adventure. We run Boyce Bros Lacrosse, which started as just two brothers sharing our love for the sport online. Now, it’s turned into a brand and a community where we post our training videos, game highlights, and the fun parts of our lives as youth athletes. What’s exciting about it is that we get to inspire other kids like us to pick up a stick, try new skills, and have fun—even when it’s hard.

What’s special about what we do is that we’re showing that kids our age can make a real impact. We’re learning how to be creative, how to connect with people, and how to stay disciplined—not just on the field, but in building a brand. We’ve been blessed to partner with some amazing companies in the lacrosse world and hope to keep growing so we can bring even more kids into the sport.

We want to show the world that lacrosse is fun, like really fun.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Looking back on our journey so far, the three qualities that have made the biggest difference for us are perseverance, teamwork, and joy.

Perseverance is probably the most important. Lacrosse is a sport where you fall down a lot. There are days when you miss a ground ball, get scored on, or just feel like nothing is going right. Our dad always says, “Life is like lacrosse. Pray, stand up, and play the next play.” That mindset has helped us push through tough practices, losses, and even hard moments outside of sports. If you want to develop perseverance, start by focusing on the little wins and never giving up, even when it is not going your way.

Teamwork has also been huge. Even though we are brothers, we are also teammates, and we have learned that you cannot win alone. You have to encourage the people around you and trust them to have your back. We practice this not just on the field, but at home, helping each other with school, chores, and our Boyce Bros projects. For anyone starting their journey, our advice is to look for ways to lift others up because when your team wins, you win.

Finally, joy is what makes everything possible. Our mom always reminds us that Jesus gave us these gifts to use with happiness, not pressure. When you play or work with joy, it is easier to get through the tough moments. We always pray before games, smile as much as we can, and remember that we are out there to have fun together. If you are early in your journey, our advice is to never lose sight of why you started. Hold onto that joy, and it will carry you through challenges.

Those three qualities, perseverance, teamwork, and joy, are like our secret playbook for life. They have helped us not only in lacrosse, but in school, family, and building our brand. And the best part is that anyone can develop them if they are willing to show up, stick with it, and have fun along the way.

Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?

Our biggest area of growth in the past 12 months has been confidence.

A year ago, both of us were still figuring out how to handle pressure on and off the field. We were nervous before games, worried about making mistakes, and sometimes we played too careful because we did not want to let our team down. But over the past year, we have learned that confidence does not come from being perfect. It comes from preparation, support, and faith.

We started training harder and spending more time in the backyard together, just the two of us and our dad. We prayed before games and reminded each other of what Mom always says: “God gave you these gifts, so go play free.” Slowly, that fear of messing up turned into excitement to compete. Hudson started playing more aggressive defense, taking on top attackers without hesitation. Mason started dodging and shooting with more creativity, trusting himself to take risks and make plays.

Off the field, confidence has grown in our brand and our voices too. Speaking on our podcast and posting our videos taught us that we can inspire other kids even if we are still learning ourselves.
The past 12 months have shown us that confidence is not about never falling down. It is about standing back up, smiling, and knowing that your family, your faith, and your team are right there with you.
