Meet Hydra

We recently connected with Hydra and have shared our conversation below.

Hydra, thank you so much for joining us today. Let’s jump right into something we’re really interested in hearing about from you – being the only one in the room. So many of us find ourselves as the only woman in the room, the only immigrant or the only artist in the room, etc. Can you talk to us about how you have learned to be effective and successful in situations where you are the only one in the room like you?

Confidence! People can feel energy and can also feel when you’re not 100% secure in your mind/body or etc. Embrace yourself completely, give yourself grace like you give others and remain focused on the goal and dream of it all!

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Believe it or not, we just started making music this year. It’s so much ideas that we collaborate on as a group and it genuinely gets us excited. Its a feeling of intuition that we on lean into in terms of our drive and motivation for it all.

Performing has been a new found love for us. VV & I didnt really come from backgrounds where we did performances or shows so this was a very new and exciting era to be introduced to. Tim has done nothing but gave us the reassurance, patience and advice on a strong stage presence with him having dancing as a career as well.

The goal is to push boundaries, open doors and give others a safe space within our music and presence to express themselves authentically.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Some of the things we learned through experience is how to take constructive criticism. Knowing when the intentions are good behind the opinions you hear and adjusting if needed.
In the same way, trusting your intuition on things and doing something that’s unique! A healthy balance between the two is always good.
Another skill we’ve been working on is our song writing, being more intentional with our lyricism is something we’ve been working on. Especially for the album.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

Lyricism! Currently we’re working on a new project with no deadline. We’ve been doing a lot of behind the scenes work to get some things aligned for a new era. It’s exciting but it’s going to scream growth!
